For a second i thought, you were being sarcastic. If you are being serious with the above quote, Please explain your logic in below situations:
1) If the Islamists ask you to recite an entire Quran, what good is learning just the Islamic prayer? You might want to think of converting to be on the safe side.
2) But, still that is not going to help you, if you are found belonging to a minority sect of Islam e.g: Shia or sunni(depending on your country), ahmadi, alawaite etc. You will still get killed just for not being the "purest of the pure".

As regards your contention that the Islamist might ask me to recite whole Kuran, I doubt whether they would know the Kuran in entirety. All one has to do is to recite the same verse with different tone and pitch! For if the terrorists know whole Kuran, they would not become terrorist in first place.
However, let me admit that I have given in past very serious thought of converting as it entails enormous benefits in job and in life. I have heard a few stories where an older man gets to marry much younger girl, have four wives and at the same time have welfare payments from Govt. etc. It is just that my doctor has told me that my life span is limited. So I have dropped the idea. However, I do see many benefits of converting - prominent being getting a govt job easily in Canada and perhaps havinga chance to divorce the wife without much hassle. (Just utter same word three times and you are done).
Of course, as you pointed out, one need to take care of converting to Salafi. Thanks for input.
Ban religious conversions, restrict growth of population of any religious group. Inter religion marriage only to be allowed if they ensure that their children adopt both religions. Let all religions vanish over a period of time and humans apply their brains for solving bigger challenges thrown by universe.
I agree with san-hugo religion is losing its relevance in today's world..

The fact is that a vast majority of human beings believe in religion and a vast majority of them today are tolerant of people having belief in different religions.
