IIRC TN is issued if you have a "confirmed" job letter in hand . I doubt that TN will be issued for interview .
Make sure that job letter is very specific about the position and duties as outlined in NAFTA .

I guess, showing them the interview confirmation email and telling them that you are heading to attend the interview is fair enough..

I believe JRF's question was what should he tell at the border when he enters the USA for the purpose of an interview.

The answer is tricky. If you say you are going to attend an interview, would you be denied? I don't know. I've always had some personal errands in the US and that's what I have said I was entering for. In that way, I am not lying, but I am stating my secondary purpose :)

When you live in a border town, both sides tend to become home.

An update, got an offer in paper from the US employer (contingent upon background checks, drug test etc.,. )
Would be working with their lawyers on TN process.

I know some other folks also wanted try a change, If its of interest to you, for a ball park figure in terms offer comparison, the cash compensation part of the offer is about 25% more than the maximum offer I was offered here. I am not taking the exchange rate difference, 401K, stock options, stock purchase plan, tuition fee reimbursements, these are ofcourse obvious long term incentives.

There was a chance of pursuing another opportunity which could have paid 5% more but considering certain logistics, I stayed away. The reasons I highlighted this is that you could certainly target more than 25% compared what I was able to settle with considering my own priorities.

Congratulations and good luck with move! Best wishes for your success!

On a lighter note and on your success why this quote from 3 idiots coming to mind:
"Jab Dost fail ho to dukh hota hai, lekin jab dost top kare to aur bhi dukh hota he"

Cheers!
