Cdn_dude, can you please elaborate on this?
What is H1 time? Is it limited?
Thanks

-- Yes. In fact, if the employer wants you (and is willing to sponsor for the GC), he will encourage you to switch to H1 (not required though). In my opinion, it is in your best interest to stay on TN as long as possible so that you do not exhaust your H1 time (in case H1 is needed).

Thanks, will do that when I get any calls from the HR.
To me Canada is GTA and US is just the places seen. So generic comments will do no good. Stop button pushed on comparison etc.,

Again, it is not just any sort of comparison but it is my observation after years of living in both nations, Canada looks little more luxurious from an average citizen's stand point, I see much furnished houses on my visits, high end cars and then some sort of "we can handle that attitude". I hope this doesn't start as a major point of discussion but just as a small tangent..
As cdn_dude stated, don't use the word "visa". Most are aware of TN. Just tell them you are eligible to work on TN status and it costs $56 and a couple of hours to get. That usually encourages them to less worried.
Also, comparison of perceptions depends on what regions you are comparing.
If you take the city limits of Detroit, the horn of Africa probably would look much more desirable to live
If you take some of the Detroit suburbs, Windsor would like a nasty dump.
Pick a few criteria and go with it, or else, you'll never find the perfect place.
Good luck to you.

A maximum of six years with a 3 year validity at a time.
In order to be eligible for an extension beyond 6 years, you must have a Labor Certification process filed and pending/approved for a minimum of 365 days (first step of a normal Green Card process). If that condition passes, you can get a 1 year extension at a time.
If your I-140, the Immigrant Petition is approved (second stage of GC) and you are waiting for the priority date to be current, then you become eligible for a 3 year extension of H1.
There are multiple variants and caveats to what I stated above.
US economy is looking to pick up pace this year and onward... I would say just pack up and do the move! Don't worry too much about pros and cons, just don't get sucked into con games. But then again, it looks like the next bubble is about to go bust sometime this year, so do not go gung-ho and burn your funds! You just may have to pack soon after you settle, due to lack or loss of employment and return to the Great North.
On a positive note, an Indian dude Nadella just became the CEO of Microsoft, a cause to celebrate the rise of a hard-working smart Indian guy!
