Hi,
I am a S/W Process Consultant working with one of the big 5 s/w companies in Blore India. My landing papers are on its way....and my medicals expire in March 2005. The thought of quiting my job here in INdia & moving to Canada is a bit scary :-). I however like changes....but this would be the biggest and most risky change that I have ever made in my life. Can any of you gimme ideas/suggestions...etc...what are my options...
Should I just quit my job and move?...and look for another job in Canada?
Should I take a few months leave...go to Canada complete the PR process check out the job scene...come back ..etc
Should I try & get a Canadain job sitting here in India?
Should I try & transfer to one of our offices in Canada? (very very difficult..almost impossible)
Any suggestions..please

Hi Micky,
Option 1 : Risky.....not advisable. Be ready of an innitial struggle. However this option will expose you to the reality of life for newcommers.
Option 2 : If u can do that ..... it would be a wise choice...i guess the job market is yet to pick up steam post 9/11. However you'll still be at square one 3 years later when u land there ie. no canadian exp. However, during the 3 years u get, you can try for option 4.
Option 3 : highly unlikely. You can asses yourself by applying to canadian jobs on one of the job boards eg. workopolis.com . They want canadian experience. However its not totally imposible.
Option 4 : The best option if you can get thru.

I would say stick with your company and when things get better or you come across an opportunity then only make a move
Bottom line dont leave Infosys,Sun,Ibm,HP,CA for a struggle
