Sir, I need your advice regarding my daughter's education.

My Canada PR application is in process. My daughter wants to do her undergrad in Canada starting from fall of 2005.

My query is :

- if she applies as an international student and our PR visa comes thru.....what would be the scenario??

- in the first place would she get an international student visa?? would they delay it and she could miss her admission?

- would her applying for international student visa put our PR application in jeopardy??

I don't want her to be disappointed and need your advice to help her chart out her path to good education.

Worship, let me answer that...
Firstly, you state that
"...My Canada PR application is in process."....
How soon are you expecting your papers ?

For Fall 2005, you should send the applications by June 2005. So you have just under a Years time to decide

Your scenario shouldnt be any problem. Its the other way around that "generally" affects PR papers.

For e.g., if your daughter were to apply on an International student Visa and THEN subsequently applied for PR papers....

Your case is the opposite. YOu have applied for PR papers and your daughter is your dependent. So PR papers and International Student Visa are mutually independent.

Now consider the scenario if you get your PR papers and she gets her Student visa also. In that case you will lose X$ only ! (where X is the fees for an International student visa)... Once you get your PR papers, her PR status superceeds her Student Visa. In other words, there would be ABSOLUTELY NO problem

Can she get a student visa ? That would depend if an only if she :-
1.) Gets admission in the University of her choice
2.) Gets those admission papers by June / July 2005
3.) Is able to show sufficient funding (a.k.a liquid assets in Canadian $) to cover her stay as an international student
4.) Is able to shown Her ties to India a.k.a not a prospective immigrant. However, as you have already filed papers on your and her behalf, I guess this situation should not pose any problem. YOu can always state that "you need the student visa, else she may miss her deadlines"..

If I am wrong Bighead/ Massood JI, pls feel free to correct me ( afterall I never came in as an undergrad).

Hi all.

when i came to canada on student visa in september 2003 i had shown that i have worked in my fathers firm for may 2000 to july 2003 as part time; but my income tax return had no income from my fathers business.

a. Now what job profile should i show so as to gain points for 3 yrs full time employement during the time of my graduation.


b. I had my college from 6:15 am - 10:00 a.m and i also have a letter from my college stating that ; It was a 3 year full time B.com course now i am trying to show that i was working in my business from 11:00 a.m - 8:00 p.m ; will i be awarded points for this as full time.

c.As Salary is required for a employer employee relationship can i show that my business had paid fees for my various courses ;included college fees in lieu of my services(as i have not shown any income in my tax return) whereas the expenses for my education and some of the courses that i have done are there in my dad's business tax return.



I am on post graduate work permit ; what i would like to know is how to gain 15 points for arranged employement .

Thank you so much, Sir. Your reply was highly informative and ironed out a lot of creases in my mind!

She falls in the top 2% of her class and has scored 95% upwards in all her academic years. She would be trying for Mcgill as well as U of Waterloo and U of T.

Thank you O_N ! Your detailed reply gave a lot of insights into the whole scenario.

I have applied in Dec. 2001 and got AOR in a week's time. Till date I have not been asked to send any new forms or IELTS results but received a notice( They call them GREEN CARDS ) in Nov 2002 and again in May 2004 that interview will be required and not to contact CIC for the next twelve months.......really can't understand what's going on. Both the times they have not asked for any new documents. I have requested for the CAIPS Notes and hope to receive them in a week or so.

All the same, the replies from both, you and Mr. Massood were really a shot in the arm ( nothing boogey!) and clarified the situation.
