And yes by the way, we have been trying to bring new and old immigrants togather on social basis for last six months - the first being a meeting for all on 10th Jan at my place, second a potluck dinner, again at my place for 6 families (where I met Vimal for the first time), third a meeting at Biomed's place, fourth a potluck dinner at Sanjiv Manocha's place (where we met Margo the first time!), and then this picnic.
Now Biomed, Sanjiv and I are all for having more potlucks at our place, but I think you all deserve a chance to organise it at your places too - right? All you have to do is to offer to have it at your place for no of persons you can accomodate and let people know you who would be interested in participating. The next step would be, you DECIDE the menu and distribute it to the participants, organising in such a manner that each family gets one main meal item and another item out of snacks or drinks or dessert. So easy, isn't it?
And don't think your place is too small - if you can accomodate your own brothers and sisters and cousins for one dinner at your place, you can do so with the extended family of CanadianDesi - after all we are all desis and understand each other!
Any volunteers?

Manan, Vikas you can choose any picture from these photos.
I know there were many cameras in the park. If anybody wants to give me photos I would be glad to post them here.
Thanks.

Should we have picnic out side GTA, about 1.5 hrs to 2 hrs drive from GTA?
Prithy - any good place around your city?
We should keep it at the end of August.
I have one concern. Should we have so many picnics?

Although I wasn't there for the cricket, the picnic was fun for sure.
However I do get Garvo's point too, that it may be difficult for people to make time if we organize many picnics, especially since summer here is so short.
But hey, there's nothing "official" about a picnic. Whoever has time and can attend can do so, just like a pot-luck or dinner.
I have a pretty jam-packed summer schedule for the rest of the summer so I won't be able to make to the next one. But I think there'll still be enough members who can plan and organize this. And I'm sure it'll be the same amount or more fun.

Hi All,
With ref to my previous post on this thread and suggestions by BioMed as well as others, I would oce again suggest HIGH PARK. The place is right outside High Park Subway. So no prob for CDs who would like to commute by subway.
Very close to Martin Goodman trail at Lake Shore, so many new comers can visit that place as well. It has a very good view of Lake Ontario and DownTown. Martin Goodman Train is a short bridge over Lake Ontario, that goes towards the two high rise condo apts on Lake Shore Blvd. Those kids or for that matter even adults, who have roller blades can bring it.
As I mentioned earlier, Aug end would be perfect setting. I liked the post by Chandresh abt pot lock parties. It's nice idea and I am sure after my exams, I shall volunteer for the same.
Agian, any new ideas are welcome.
