Friend, please don't take it otherwise, but more then hearing PLANS and strategies from active CD members like me, it seems your BOTTOMLINE is something different. It looks like that you are desparate now to reach at the JUDGEMENT that, whether this site brings SUCCESS or FAILURES?, Whether this site is bringing HAPPINESS to members/people or its RUINING their lives?

Am I right friends?

Regards,

VJ

I am afraid you are not right my friend and I do not want you take this otherwise either. I have been reading your posts and know that earlier you were not inclined to come for various reasons and that subsequently you changed your decision. I have also been reading how you consider the posts on this board a great source of information and inspiration and that they have been of enormous help in getting you better prepared to achieve success after you land here.
Since I too have been lurking on this board for quite sometime now, to be honest, while I may agree somewhat with the "information" and "inspiration" part, I did not find anything anywhere on this board that is particularly appealing or worthwhile in helping someone actually plan and be better "prepared" to achieve success. Far superior tips and suggestions than have been dispensed here, are freely available from several other sources that can give you more than all the tips/suggestions put together here. In support of what I said, here are just 3 of the several sites available on the internet.
http://www.labor.state.ny.us/working_ny/finding_a_job/jssearch/tableco.htm" target="_blank">http://www.labor.state.ny.us/working_ny/finding_a_job/jssearch/tableco.htm</a>
http://content.monster.com/" target="_blank">http://content.monster.com/</a>
http://www.cdm.uwaterloo.ca/" target="_blank">http://www.cdm.uwaterloo.ca/</a>
http://www.sdc.gc.ca/en/gateways/individuals/cluster/cp.shtml" target="_blank">http://www.sdc.gc.ca/en/gateways/individuals/cluster/cp.shtml</a>

Go thro them and you will see what I mean. It was therefore only out of curiosity that I wanted to know from you, what exactly did you learn from your interaction here and how that has helped you plan better. Besides the standard suggestions like not to go into a labor job right away etc. , and those available in "career" manuals, what exactly is your plan or strategy that makes you feel confident of achieving success.
I really would like to know.

Thanks.

Hi DiogenestheCynic,

I am in INDIA and would surely love to write in length about the actions taken, rather then theories written.

See, these would change as per different mindsets. Success/Failure in my field can not be taken as benchmark for other fields. However at a right time, I would share the "BASICS" part, which definitely would be common for all the fields.

Regards,

VJ..

Writing about "actions taken" will be possible only AFTER you come to Canada. What I am more interested in is in the "planned actions" you have in mind BEFORE you come here? And that question is is actually in line with your own claim that you have learnt a lot from this site. Was that just rhetoric and hyperbole or is there more substance to it?

I am afraid, I do not quite understand what you are tryng to say and what is its relevance to what I requested from you.

When will it be the "right" time? As far as my questions queries are concerned, isn't it now, that is "BEFORE" you come here? :D

Thats precisely true about what I am trying to communicate. My perception about the usefullness of this site, remains best for me. It would give me further justifications once I achieve my goals based upon the same. Hence I would request you to keep patience. If you have taken me as a benchmark, I would not hide myself from sharing each and every thing in this open forum.

My understanding about this site may match my life parameters. For e.g. I am an engineer and found substancial stuff or information about engineering field from this website. I found it very crucial to go further and build my road map. So for me it was this website which gave a booster as an engineer. Thats why I had written this. Similarly, for my field, I found great data from this website.

However, please note that apart from the application specific or NEED BASED data findings from the website, I am not the only person to say, that what amount of information on BASICS (Dos and Dont's ) this site has been providing. SO CONCLUDE LIKE THIS.....BASICs WHICH ARE COMMON FOR ALL FIELDS can easily be explored/searched from the site and for which, you can't put the GUN on VJ's shoulder and ask to shoot. And my claim of whether information matching to one's own field or not from this website, remains intact. As for me, its been fantastic.

I would share about what I followed from the "BASICS" part of this website and what I am following to build the foundation in my own field, taking help from this website. I have still another 2/3 months to leave and I am already having 7 appointments of various people in my field to meet after landing. So for a guy who has spent 14 years in SALES, needs only this to start. "FIRST ENTRY TO THE CUSTOMER's/PROSPECT's DOOR". And this is a small outcome of my education from the BASICS and APPLICATION/SKILLS SPECIFIC DATA search.

I think, by noew you must be clear with what I tried to convey. "SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO READ WHAT IS NOT WRITTEN".

Bye for now,

Keep in touch,

Regards,

Vj
