Hello,

- How safe and accessible are these areas, as listed below.
- What are the public transportation systems that are prevalent in these areas? Are these areas accessible from all parts of TO/GTA?
- Are these areas good place to live (initially) for a newly landed immigrant, considering that the person(s) needs to move around a lot for initial job hunting, etc.

Dufferin/Steeles area
Mississauga (Winston Churchill and Derry)
Scarborough at the intersection of Neilson and Sheppard
Garfella Dr, Etobicoke
McLevin Ave, Scarborough
------------------------

Feedbacks please.

Thanx

Above areas are accessible by public transit.
Dufferin Steeles --- take subway to wilson and from there bus to steeles.
Garfella drive --- reach kipling subway and from there bus no. 46 (martin grove) get down at garfella dr. (bus stop after albion intersection)
Winston Churchill + Derry ---- reach woodbine center and take mississauga transit on Derry road.
I donot know of Scarborough. All other areas are very safe.

The 2 Scarborough locations quoted (Neilson & Sheppard and ‘McLevin Ave’) are both in the ‘Malvern’ area – a lousy / high crime part of the city (Sri Lankan Tamil and black gangs have been in the area for ages).

In terms of accessibility too, they aren’t great – getting to downtown on public transit will involve several changes of buses / RT / subway, shouldn’t take anything less than an hour and a half each way.

If you want to reach Toronto (let us say Toronto Union station) from Winston Churchill & Derry you can take Go transit train from Meadowvale station to Union station. Otherwise you will have to take 2 TTC trains and 3 Mississauga Transit buses to reach there.

There is also a Go Bus (Hourly i think) which goes from meadowvale area to Union station. One is express and the other takes a little longer as it passes through other areas.

Very Very safe area.....

Hi
Where are the majority of software firms located in TO/GTA?
For e.g., in Mumbai, its mainly concentrated in Andheri(E), SEEPZ, etc. Likewise, what about TO/GTA?

Thanx
