Hi

I am relocating to Toronto very soon and would be working in Downtown. Can someone please let me know which areas are not safe in GTA. I have heard Allan Gardens and Regent Park area is not safe at night.

Thanks

Overall, I found Toronto to be a very safe city . But there are some small pockets where one feels funny , not unsafe, but you know that creepy feeling which tells you better get outta here .

Downtown is very vibrant till late at night all along Yonge street.
there are some intersections I'd watch out for . Avoid parliament/sherborne intersection. Avoid some areas in scarbogough and jane/finch intersection. that cant think of any other places .

I have lived in many cities in the past and when i came to Toronto was a little skeptical for a few months , but now having known the city and its suburbs , it truly is one fantastic city.

I dont find downtown creepy at all ....maybe i hangout there a lot but some by lanes could be quiet. Areas around Yonge, Yorkville, areas around U of T areas are very vibrant.

You are right about Scar-boro .

I personaly found downtown to be ok. Returning from shows quite late at night I found quite a few other people also out and about. This is around the entertainment district. I am sure if you venture out more into deserted areas it would be a different story.

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.

Pape and gerrard is pretty close to indian market segment of gerrard street.i was crossing that intersection today and remembered about this post.... i'd say it is not the best of the areas ....not unsafe but had a lot of chinese , vietnamese stores seemed like a pretty commercial area with small businesses.
