hello all.. am writing on behalf of my friend who is a canadian citizen.
She went to pakistan with her parents where she was forced to marry her cousin or relative.. she had to sign the papers there and then they brought here here.

the girl is presently 20 years of age whereas the husband is 32+ ...

she sees that the man has apparently married her for his convenience of immigration, but she wants to be free. She cant talk to her parents coz they get upset and the drama starts then... emotional blackmail..

he has already handed in his medical in pakistan...

is there anything the gurl can do to save herself? what are the necessary steps she should follow? whom should she go and speak to? she doesnt wanna take her parents with her knowingly they wont let her out too..

Are there any numbers she could call? does she still have to support the man if he comes here ? she is still studying.

Regards,
this is urgentttttt

IMO, your friend is in big trouble. You will not be able to accomplis this task in total silence. She has to speak up the reason for not allowing that person under spouse sponsorship now. She has already signed documents as an adult citizen. Is your friend ready to speak against her parents. Once she says that her parents forced her for marriage. Her parents are in real big trouble here. Are you both aware of the outcome. She has to be mentaly be prepared to walk out of this problem once and for all no matter what are the consequence.
CIC call center number is 1 888 242-2100 they can advice you how to cancel sponsorship papers.
Best of Luck

well, what has happened was not good. however, now your friend has to be courageous enough to take further steps. she has to b mentally, emotionally strong enough to take further steps. her parents would be facing a tough time.

So unfortunate ...... this is 2005 and these things still happen ...... the irony is ...... your friend would not be the last one.

Like everyone before me commented .... your friend has to be conscious of her actions ... if .... she decides to go against this.

Keep it mind ...... it is not just the parents ..... the whole family / baradari would oppose her .... to start with ... her parents would have to face legal charges ... second her husband would be black listed from the Canadian High Commission .......her only consolation would come from a few strangers and from you.

But then at least she has a choice ..... that is what this country offers .....

She does not have to file a complaint herself !!!! You can do it on her behalf too ...... the autnirities would be over her parents so fast ..... they would not know what hit them ...... as far as the monetery aspects are concerned .... well ... the city will provide legal assistence ..... beyond that she'll need to place to stay and living expenses etc etc ....

You guys have to make a choice here .....
