I got visitor visas for my mom. The expiry date is September 2005. My question is that if she comes in July, can she only stay till september? or is it that once she comes to the airport in July the visa officer will stamp the passport for six months from July.
Advice from experts is appreciated.
Thanks
Most probably the officer will stamp "six months from July"

for my in laws case POE officers only did a custom stamp with date of landing as March30,2005 but nothing mentioned like six month etc...
Their visa is expiring on Aug 7 so I am in same position how to understand the maximum duration of stay.

My mom is coming in April for 6 months. She also has her PR processing going on. Will it affect the pr processing? We had got the visitors visa before the pr. Also her visa expires in April but we want to extend it. Does anybody know whether the extention can be done from inside canada?

There is no need to notarise letter of invitation because you are sending an original signed paper - you are not sending a photocopy.
Letter from MP is pretty much worthless.
Your tax returns will definetely be a big help and by far the most important document (more important than MP letter).
Dropping in mail or not doesn't make any difference - they will do what they want in either case.
Check the location specific consulate website (link through CIC) for any country specific documents needed.
