Hii
Is there anyone working with CIBC out there? Is it a move? Would appreciate some comments about the work culture/stability?
Thanks

I used to work for CIBC, I personally thought that is was a good company to work for. But ofcourse you would have to compare it with your present job or other job offer/s you may have. (as the case may be)
I hope this helps you in some way.
qadirawan,
Thanks for your reply. My concerns were as below:
1. I am currently working in the manufacturing industry and this move will result in my moving to financial services. I do believe that there is a good future in manufacturing for me (not with my company).
2. I need to consider long term prospects since there are not a lot of banks to move around.
3. In terms of moeny, OK the money is good and much better. But, I can get that money where I am right now in a year or two.
Any advice would be be greatly appreciated

Since I was in a technical support role ( and not financial services) I am not able to give you any advice in that regard based upon my personal experience.
Also since I was working at one of their main offices and not out of a branch, I am not able to tell you anything substantial as to the culture at their branches.
What I can tell you is that CIBC is a fairly stable company, they have seldom had any mass layoffs. They had some problems at the time when Enron went bankrupt (They were one of the major creditors) But they have done much better since.
The work envirnoment is very multicultural. There are a number of people of South Asian origin in higher positions, indicating to me that discrimination is not wide spread.
CIBC benefits are probably at par with companies of similar size, so I don't think that is a major incentive or dis-incentive.
From what I do know about financial sector in general (this is not particular to CIBC) is that it is a highly regulated industry (in Canada) and is sheltered from open competition to some extent. Manufacturing is open to worldwide competetion.
So you would do well to weigh your options from these and other angles that might have an impact on a decision that might affect your future career to large extent.
Thanks Qadirawan.
