Tom
Hi
The kinds of jobs you can do are available in plenty. You can get into Call center or Market research job ion Canada very quickly. and money you will be getting will be enough to support the family.
I would suggest to move immediately.
All the best

Move Now !:)

The time is right and ripe. There are plenty of survival jobs which are available and you could survive for 3 years to get your passport. You could decide further course of action later. There is a lot of new immigrants coming in and it is also getting crowded here. With tightening of visa regime for Indians in Gulf, it would be a better option for you to get this Canadian passport done now, before you have no choice. You are also younger and physically fit now, if God Forbid you have to do some factory job in Canada.

It will be easier for your children to adapt and get into the stream now.Save your money for doing your education here after you land here, as you might find the jobs and skills in demand here, very different than back where you are.Recently I met a person from India, who moved from ME with the idea of doing a PhD in Management in Canada, he moved and dropped the idea and did a course in Welding. He is making $20 per hour to start and with plenty of overtime. He is happy and does not regret his decision of not pursuing his PhD. There are people doing short term courses in Welding, Electrician, Robotics for Plastic Injection Molding and finding decent jobs of $17 to $20 per hour. Who knows after landing here you might even drop the idea of doing a job and starting a small business of your own, like a take-out joint, desi grocery store or a video store, clothing store or even a Dollar Store.

I would suggest two things now to you before you land here:

1. Please work out and try to spend more time making yourself physically fit.

2. If possible and if you have access to a school which can offer you fork lift training, spend time and learn it.

Good Luck & Never postpone this decision until it too late!

Speech by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times....

"When we were young kids growing up in America, we were told to eat our
vegetables at dinner and not leave them. Mothers said, 'think of the
starving children in India and finish the dinner.' And now I tell my
children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the children in India
who would make you starve, if you don't.'"

nice to know the positive views of the members.....yeh in gulf one has to take permission for every small personal work too.....your passport...which is your personal property is with the employer all the time...imagine my father's position...when he was in kuwait during gulf war '90 and passport with the employer who was out of sight at that time....work freedom in canada is there....and that is more important.

You seem to think that external circumstances are more important than what you are going to do. Or something will be better here or there. To best of logic, both decisions seem more or less equal.

Seem to be forgetting that YOU are the prime mover in this dimension.

Wherever you go and whatever you do will take you to your destiny. Whether you stay or move to Canada now, both will be good for you.

So just stop being indecisive and act.

After all God is always there to look after you. :)
