My heartiest thanks and gratitude to the webmaster, and all those who manage this website,. Thanks for replacing the picture of the Indian washroom with a great scene from Kashmir.
Words are not enough to say thanks. I didn't access this website for the few days, we had the earlier picture.
The Washroom picture depicts true India, The picture of Kasmir is the illusionary India which evryone sees in their dreams when they are resident abroad.
Quote:Why is the washroom a real picture and the Kashmir valley isn't?

"Mah deah, there is much more money to be made in the destruction of civilization than in building it up."
-- Rhett Butler in "Gone with the Wind"
A country is made of a large number of things, all of which maybe impossible to count:
A giggling child
A loving mother
A hardworking Student
A devoted wife
A motivated worker
A toiling farmer
A child on a swing in monsoon rains
A benevolent saint
Flora and Fauna
and so on.
Then there are inanimate things
The lands
The skies
The high mountains
The rivers and streams
The lakes and ponds
and so on
Then the intangibles
A feeling of home and belonging
A sense of freedom
A love for every one else
It also includes a toilet, which is part of an infrastructure you would like to invest in.
But again some things overtake investment in a toilet:
School Fees for kids
Medicine for old parents
A humble contribution for sunami victims
and so on.
No one can dispute importance of sense of hygiene. Then again it is a complex issue, and we have to address it. It needs dedicated social workers, change in mind set of a society which is simultaneously also facing other challenges and pressing issues, and it needs funds.
But in no case one aspect can depict a country. That it depicts one aspect is true.
Of course, I see India in a different way, I feel it is a great country, like so many other countries in the world, and on other hand much better than so many other countries. And I do not always look out through windows of a toilet.
