Need help, my parents are diabetic , and also have very weak eye sight. my dad cannot even see if its dark in the night. in the medical request they have specifically asked them to bring any prescription glasses they may have. i am curious.... what exactly are they looking for in medical exam? what basis it can be denied?

Not sure what you meant by " my dad cannot even see if its dark in the night" isn't that normal?

Generally if there is no disease that may spread to others, or there is no terminal illness that may burden the canadian medical system with hospitalisation support, there shouldn't be any issues. I am just recalling this info and I may be wrong, call CIC to get exact details.

This is new "test" that they have instituted. They will ask your parents to undergo an eye exam (standard reading test). If your parents are unable to read the full chart with their prescription glasses, they will ask them to go to go back to the optometerist/optician and get thier eyes tested and new glasses made and then come back again to complete the medical test. Therefore, you should get your parents eyes tested in advance for going for the medical test and get new glasses made, if their prescription power has increased. This will save time and hassle.

I noticed something today in the online status. Under the Permanent Resident application status, this is mentioned:

"We received XXXXXXXXXX application for permanent residence on November 13, 2008."

When actually their PR application was sent this February as they asked to submit the same. Looks like they have made the PR application date the same as when the sponsorship application was sent.

Now, my question is would this status be changed to the 'Decision Made' when there is any decision on the PR application, or is there another file number for my parents that I need to login with in order to see the up to date status?

I got a letter that the file is transferred to India.

1) What are the next steps?

2) when does PR visa get issued ?

I am confused with this timeline issue ....

Same here.. both side ( sponsor and permanent residence) says the exact same thing with exact date.. and in my case this happened 3 weeks ago..
