I wanted to open a thread to discuss the difference between the work environment (or wor culture) in Canada and India. What do you think? Which one is better?

In Canada, I like the fact that everybody does all kinds of work. Even the manager would join you in moving material, cleaning the desk or floor if required, etc. There is no shame in doing any kind of work. No peons, etc.

Changes are so frequent & sudden here that one day your manager could be somebody else & when you come back the next day, you have a new manager without any prior notice.

I have only worked in one company here. So don't know much about other companies.

In most corporate companies using IT technologies, as per my feedback from interacting with a few people, not much of difference.

The Canadian worker does 3 things simultaneously:
-Work
-Eat and
-Drink coffee or pop.
(all 3 things at the same time)
It is a marvel to watch.

I like the work culture in public services like post office, libraries, etc. They rarely take a break, and work like crazy with no time in between chatting between themselves or having chai (or coffee) breaks.

In private offices and workspaces, I have found the work culture to be somewhat like India - lot of breaks (cigarette/ coffee/ etc.), lot of gossip (and politics). But they do get a lot more accomplished during the course of one day than in India.

In the workplace I like the fact that the office empties out at 5:00pm - there is no pressure to put in extra hours. I like the fact that weekends are sacred - no one expects you to come in to work on weekend.

Apla company mein everybody super dedicated. Actually apun not knowing even if apla type of analysis done in India.
we are all time analyzing market conditions all over world. we are paid heavy salaries and expected to put extra time incl weekends without O/T. we having deadlines to meet. Usually jobs coming from US, but also from western Europe and Latin America. Recently plenty requests from China on resource analysis of Canada.Ekdum high paced environment. Solid software using. Chakram ho jata hai aadmi. And peoples here recruited from all over world, incl HK, Spore, East Europe, West Europe, Russia, Americas, Egypt, and of course Canadians. Lakin these Cans are diff type than most. Even they think they several notches above normal Cans.Ekdum highly dedicated. Lakin work hard party hard types. Not like in India. Only work hard no party hard, lakin hearing things changing there. Hard partying also happening.
Ekdum recently apla team working on oil forecast. We were tolding to analyse data on hand and give facotrs showing oil will go below $60, when it was $70. We are giving that by end Oct/ beg Nov oil will be below $60. And it happening. Company in US giving big pat on back to our CEO and that evening when oil close below $60 our whole team treated to wine, champagne and luxurious 5 course meal in upend restaurant. Is something like that happening in India? Apun left more than 10 years ago and that time all doing is slog and slog and more slog. Bekaar!Lakin like tolding before they saying it is changing now, ekdum at least in IT company.

I am able to understand that you want to express your feelings as you feel and hence you used Hindi.
But you know what unfortunately, I am not very famililar in Hindi esp.., Bombay or Delhi slang.
If possible, please post in English. This will make all of us enjoy.
