I have always been one to look out for real quick and easy ways to cleanup after cooking or anything related to home organisation. Thats why i was so happy when a few days ago i chanced upon a real quick an easy way to clean the microwave (courtesy Breakfast Television ) It was soo easy that i could not believe it ..
You just need to heat a microwavable bowl with about a cup of water on high power for about3-4 minutes.....after that cleaning the microwave was a breeze...no more scrubbing endlessly and certainly no more arguments with hubby over not being careful to avoid spills in the microwave !!
The other thing that bothers me is the smell that somehow never leaves our homes after all the cooking... i have tried cooking with all the windows open, lighting scented candles....even heating water with a few cinnamon sticks and orange peels ....Nothing works very well...I would appreciate any fresh ideas to tackle that. And any more ideas for quick cleaning up from fellow desis would be great.
btw ...would love to put a disclaimer regarding that microwave idea...but am not as good as tkuruvan....

There is no key to happiness.... the door is always open.
About cooking smell; you would want to check your hoodfan above the stove. If it is just interior type; make sure you have charcoal filter in it. It needs to be replaced frequently. If the hood fan is venting outside the home, check that the exhaust duct is properly sealed at the vent connector and all the exhaust leaves the home. You want to turn on the hood fan every time you cook especially when you use oil and spices.
Hope this works!
Try putting a little baking soda in the bowl of water when you are heating it in the microwave, it cleans even better and absorbs odours too.
