I apologize if this has been addressed before.
My husband has recently got his citizenship and still has his indian passport..though he has applied for his canadian passport - which he will get in a few weeks.
No one has asked him to surrender his indian passport..does he do it? if so - where? if not - what does he do with it?
Thank you.

Who do u expect to ask for his Indian passport? Nobody from the CIC is authorized to do so.
Keep it in a safe place. Indian consulate will ask for it when he applies for Indian visa/PIO/OCI card.

When he applies for his Indian visa/PIO card, They will ask for the Indian Passport and cancel it and gave it back to him

We will find a way or we will make one
Also, Don't forget to ask your husband to bring along the cancelled indian passport when he visits India as a canadain citizen.
I have heard of some CD's mention that the airport authorities in India demand to see the cancelled Indian passport. It's just a excuse to have the palms greased

Great - thanks for clarifying our dilemma!

The Indian high commission in Toronto charges $62 for 6 mo visa. Is this single entry or multiple entry?
