My time-line is like this:

Applied June-19th
File Transfered to Scarborough office Sep 10th

As of today Feb 18th I am still waiting for any response.

As per Pramod I should hear anytime from now.

I have a question

How you or Citizenship Canada deal with our Indian Passport?

For Indian Passport, they don't care, it is the individual's responsibility to deal with the Indian Consulate.
I have the Indian Passport with me and it really doesn't matter to surrender or not to surrender, but legally one has to surrender it to the Indian consulate.

Hi GG,

I am sure you would hear from them very soon for the test. Hopefully much before march end.

I am told that they simply take away your PR card when they give you Citizenship Card/Certificate or if you do not have the PR card, then they VOID your IMM 1000 (landing document attached to your passport) and they do not bother about your Indian Passport. Now with the dual citizenship bill passed by India in Parliament (both houses) and waiting for just President's assent, you do not have to surrender your Indian Passport to Indian Counsulate as well. Indian consulate would update the website http://www.cgitoronto.ca" rel="nofollow">LINK as to what procedure to follow to keep both citizenships (if you want to) in a couple of months time.

Good Luck

There is a lot of confusion about timelines with Citizenship. They claim 12 months.

If your are lucky, youmay get quickly or even 12 months are fair enough.

I am waiting for last five months and files are still not transferred to local office for writing test and oath.

Yes Jhon now I am a Canadian Citizen.

We took this oath yesterday (25th Feb) and the total time it took was around 1 hour 45 minutes from the time we reached, waited for our papers to be checked, then sat in a room with a capacity of over 150 people (though in our group there were a total of 100 people) and the clerk told every one about the proceedings and then the judge came, gave a speech and then all of us took the oath in both languages, then the clerk called every one and the certificate of citizenship was handed over. Then every one signed a paper acknowledging taking oath. Prior to this they collected the PR cards back from every one and stampled the IMM 1000 as 'not valid' and gave only the IMM100 back. Then there was a closing speech by the judge and it was over.

Now come to your question. These questions about representatives are not in the exams as they have pre-printed 5-6 different sets of question papers which are laminated, which means they have not been changed for a long time and do not contain any question regarding your local MP or MPP or MLA etc. At the most they will ask you about the Prime Minister, Name of the Queen's representative in Canada or the title of these representatives in Province or Territories and in Munispalities.

The test is not hard at all and if you have read the book and have practiced questions, you would be over with in 10-15 minutes. There are 20 multiple questions. You have to answer minimum 12 correctly in order to pass. However, question number 16 & 17 both have to be correct and you have to give at least 1 correct answer from question number 18,19 & 20. The question number 16 & 17 are related to Citizens, like their rights and responsibilities and on election process and the structure of the government in Canada.

You can practice answers to these questions on this site ( as suggested by Garvo in some other post) or if you search in Charcha you will find so many links for this and you can certainly go over the questions and answers a number of time and pass the test very, very, very... easily. Still if you are not sure, give me a call or send me an email. BTW my son also has to appear in the test on 8th March and he would be in a position to tell us more in detail and if any thing has changed since we took our test.

Good Luck.
