Hi All,

I am will bell internet service was last two year and i hardly use internet at home. the plan i have is $50/month for unlimited access. with a speeed upto 5mbps.

last night when i was browsing the speed was very slow. around 1mbps. I called the tech support and they told me the in my service area bell's capacity is only 2mbps so the speed i am getting is right.

i am paying for the service upto 5mbps and in return i would like to expect atleast 2.5 to 3 mbps. but i only get 1mbps which is same and if i downgraded i will get the same service.

I called bell today and asked how come you can sold a service for which you dont have a infastructure... Like selling 5mps when their own capacity is 2MBPS.

Now they offer the price difference in 2 plans ...

Are there any other options avaliable for me as they cheated me, and i am sure there will be other ppl who have the same problem...

Please give suggestion what are my option and i can get some thing big out of them :)

Have you signed a contract with Bell? If so, you may have to deal with them ... try to escalate the issue.

If not, just dump them and go to a provider like TekSavvy or Acanac. However, if you are getting lower speeds due to your distance from the CO, then even TekSavvy or Acanac won't help as they use the same phone lines for providing service.

Try the following
1) Call bell and complain. Have them get a technician out to your house to check your phone lines (make sure that they dont charge you for it)
2) Ask them for your distance to the central office (CO). Note that down.
3) If you have a problem due to the CO distance, call them again and complain about their dishonest business practices. They should have checked the CO distance to see if it's physically possible to provide a 5MBPS service. Talk to a supervisor. Note down their names and times of each call.
4) If all fails, contact Ellen Roseman. She's a journalist with the Toronto Star and helps distressed consumers.

Hopefully that helps.

You should read your service agreement that says: To the extent permitted by applicable law, Your Service Provider does not guarantee or warrant the performance of the Service...........

hello tigercanada,

really sorry to hear about your case. we had the prob with bell last month, which has been solved now. actually it was not about the internet but about calling india. we have sears connection for calling india, but suddenly from sept, bell started charging us for calling india and the bill for the month of sept. was $1300. we called and complained so many times. but as you know all the time, a new person picks up the phone and we had to tell them the same story, they never give line to floor manager or supervisor even after holding for 30 mins. so finally we mailed ellen roseman and our prob got solved. you can sign up any kind of services of bell from any offices but if you have any prob, then same ppl cant help you out. for that you have call and call only......rediculous............
