I had subscribed to Prinus a few months back and after getting fed up with their service, finally unsubscribed effective last week. Before subscribing to Primus, I had thought that the customer service of Bell was bad, but Primus....Tauba, Tauba!
Couple of months ago, primus phone service was down for a few days. Thankfully, I had a bell connection too so I could survive. However, because I was not able to connect to their customer service even after holding for 40-50 minutes on 3-4 occassions, I could not get my modem reprogrammed for about 9 days so could not use the phone for 9 days.
Even to cance the service, I had to make a few calls and hold for long. The most irritating part was, when I called the number for service, I was not able to talk to any CSR for 40-50 minutes, but when on the same number I pressed the option for new connection, I was able to get someone within a minute - 3 times, but they would not help saying that if I wanted a new connection they could get the things immediately but if I wanted a new connection and cancel the old one, I could not do that.
The worst thing is, Primus takes your credit card number for billing - so if you are not able to talk to the CSR, the disconnection does not take place and so you keep paying for it.
I personally would NEVER go back to Primus even if they gave it to me for half the cost.

I also had some very very bad experience with Primus just like Chandresh bhai. I had opted for their services about 3-4 years ago. In my case, first of all, the moment I said 'yes' to their service, my long distance carrier was switched within 24 hrs but unfortunately their own service took atleast another 120 hrs (so total 144 hrs) to get activated. In the mean time, I was without the long distance carrier. That time even Reliance was also not there and I am not a fan of 'phone cards'. Worst was that they had already debited my Credit Card. Once the service was activated, I could not call India......I called Customer Service and they told me that there was some ongoing technical issue for about 15 days. Oh my my! It took me atleast 4 calls over 2 hours time span to talk to a CSR for cancelling the service.
Cost to me: one month's charge (there were some charges.....I don't remember exactly)
I never made even a single call or rather I couldn't make a call.
I switched back to Bell as my long distance carrier and THEY CHARGED ME $50 FOR COMING BACK
But at last: Primus se jaan bachi aur lakhon paaye........
Now: I have Bell as home phone and internet service provider and Rogers as wireless.

Surprisingly my experience with Primus has been quite opposite compared to that of Chandresh and Sanjiv.
I had to call up Primus for some other reason other than technical issue a couple of times and didn't have to wait even a minute....and the issue was resolved without any fuss....and I earn AIRMILES every month. Calling them, I did not have to go through a maze of voice options when one calls ROGERS who I had to call at least 6 times in last 3 months. And they have replaced my modem twice in less than a year. The last Motorola modem they installed resulted in blocking some websites like: Torontomls.net, Costco.ca, tomtom.com, jetairways.com, CSIC.ca,.... When I called them, they said this was an advanced modem with IP address starting with 99 instead of 98 and therefore it will take some time to fix these. Anyway, the issue has been resolved for now...until I discover some more websites that cannot be accessed. One thing I have to commend ROGERS is for their employees. They are courteous and knowledgeable...though each person handles the same technical problem differently (means ..makes you do different things on your machine to achieve same result for same problem).

While it may be tempting to switch to low cost carriers, nobody can beat Bell for it's reliability. If you want just the basic home phone service (without VM) that includes the 911 charge and touch tone fee costs you $25.72(before Tax). Use G3 or Reliance as your long distance carrier and buy VM phone and you are good to go
After burning my hands trying (no name companies like CIA) i wanted everything smooth in terms of communications facilities at my home more than me my wife was getting upset with my method of saving few bucks and getting good deals. I applyed for new connection with bell (basic phone) no features. Also i thought that it made sense to go with high speed internet from the same company. I signed for Bell Sympatico (my brother in law is with bell ever since he has come in canada) i was also using his phone and internet in his appartment for few years never ever had any issues at all. But to my shock bell was not able to provide me high speed internet services they had some serious technical issues (my appt location north york) in terms of switch etc (too much technical for me) i was fed up calling them every single day for 3 weeks and they kept delaying that they are trying to fix the problem. So finally after getting frustrated I made a switch over from bell to primus. So far i have not got any issues sometimes the speed gets slower of internet also i had to call them few times wrt to setting up my connections i found them quite easy to get on phone. My phone and internet connection with primus is just few weeks old so it would be interesting to see how it goes. Hope it goes smoother.
