Travel insurance booked through GMS.ca .. $20 .. have used them earlier for drug coverage .
Since we are leaving tomorrow , a couple of other things that are still gray for me :
a. Debating whether to use subway / transit buses for going around OR use the double decker bus for 2 days ..... Pros of using a DD is that we have a toddler and it will be easier to see the city ... Cons is that given NY s traffic a DD would take much longer .... I wonder how frequent they are .....
b. Tolls : Do we have to tender exact change ? Or can they change cash .....
c. Any recommendations for popular Indian veg joints in NY or close to Secaucus are welcome ......

OK Folks .. Thx for the inputs . Here s the feedback :
Had rented a car .. started late @ 1 pm was @ the border 3 pm .. Reached hotel @ 11 pm ..Should have started earlier .
Next day , took NJ transit close to the hotel ( 5 mins walk from Rodeway Inn Secaucus ) ... reached Port Authority Terminal , Times Square in 10 - 15 mins .... Collected tickets from Grayline Bus Tours ..Hop on hop off double decker .... Had taken all 4 loops - Down Town , Up town , Brooklyn & Night Tour + Mid Town Cruise ... package .... Glad had taken it as with a city as big as NYC and a toddler , this was the best form of commuting w/o worrying about subway routes and transit buses .... plus having the best view of the city .
1st day did the 1.5 hour cruise , roamed around Times Square and then did the Uptown Loop as well as the Night Loop ( roughly 2 hours each ) .... Reached hotel 11 pm ... connectivity from Port Authority Terminal is excellent .
Next day again reached the same place and did the Down Town Loop .. reached battery park - did the to & fro free ferry to Straten Island .. and joined the Brooklyn Loop ... 3 hours later the bus dropped us @ Rockefeller Center ... where we went on Top of The Rock observatory Deck .... preferred this to ESB based on reviews .... Delighted ... much better than Burj Al Khalifa or CN Tower probably because of the open deck . Did the night tour once again with cool breze blowing esp on the bridges .... great view of Manhattan skyline @ night ...
Started back @ 10 am the following day reaching by 7 30 pm ... Did not get time to shop / move around a lot but got a good over view of NYC and enjoyed it ........... Found Manhattan to be a lot crowded and congested ...... as expected perhaps ...
A word of advice for prospective travlers ... Use credit card wherever you can for safety & convenience ... They may charge you 2.5% but 1% will be cash back and even SBI charges 1.9% for currency exchange !!
Also avoid going in July - August because of the heat ...June & August should be better tempratures ....
