Any good/not so good abt Air France?

I tried it last year. The flight is a new flight but all other services are just average. They gave some stale bun along with the meal and when the desi next to me asked for jam to go along with the bun, the air hostess said bluntly "we canot cater to the individual tastes of each and every passenger" and he was refused Jam. The Bun was really very stale (but maybe that is how the eurpoeans eat it). I threw out mine. If you go to the back of the plane and ask for OJ or Water , they do oblige and give it to you.
Paris airport is one of the worst airports to enjoy in the developed world. No much entertainment in the airport and things are very costly at the airport.
I will not fly Air-France again since it was too boring. But it is conveneient to go to B'lore, chennai or New delhi and maybe even mumbai. You have just 2-3 hr. stop over in Paris.
Also i donot know about the hassles with Air France if your baggage gets lost etc... It seems that from India to Toronto, for every KG of extra luggage that you carry you have to pay a fine of Rs. 1000 unless you can get the approval of the supervisor.

Sidenote : I really would like to try out Cathy Pacific, SAL (Singapore), MAS (Malaysia), Emirates... next time i fly from here to India.
2. Air France also has personal entertainment systems in the Economy class. Also did Srilankan from Columbo-Zurich.

Can't say much bad about AF. However, since it connects thro' Paris (Charles DeGaulle) almost all the time, and since Paris SUCKS really bad on baggage transfers, I wouldn't fly AF.
I have heard and experienced myself, regarding baggage not making it past Paris and getting delayed for a good 2 to 4 days.
Based on my monthly trip to Germany and Netherlands all last year, to this day, I think Amsterdam is the best location for connections.

Based on your experience in this part of the world (western Hemisphere), Which airport would you rate the best
WRT - Architecture of the building
free stuff and facilities offered by the airport.
Landing and Take off experience.
I have heard that HK's airport is the best for Landing/Takeoff experience and the best architecture of the building (designed by Sir Norman Foster of London, UK).

Sidenote : My limited exposure would put Singapore and the New malaysian airport to be the best. I was not impressed much with Frankfurt, London (city view is good),Zurich, Rome, Bahrain.

I always booked short connections and that is where Amsterdam wins all the time. My shortest connection time at AMS once was 35 minutes for the trip from Stuttgart, Germany to Detroit (closest major airport to Windsor, ON) via AMS and my bags made it to the flight. I made it to my flight 7 minutes before departure time. The only reason, they kept the boarding open was because of the prior info the airlines had about the short connection.
So, that's always been my preferred airport. AMS has beautiful interior architecture although the exterior is nothing much to talk about. CDG (Charles De Gaulle) is totally confusing.
Frankfurt is good and has excellent access to the train station. The train station is at the bottom level of the airport after baggage claim and customs. I am referring to the train if you want to go elsewhere within Germany.
I found Toronto little confusing the first time since I had assumed that the terminal transfer was internal and not through a shuttle. However, I got over that soon. The airport looks neater and organised now that the road consturction is over.
Newark, NJ was a total disaster for me. The signs were bad for the domestic connection after coming back from an intl flight that I wasted an hour trying to figure out and almost missed the flight. My bags did not make it.
Detroit McNamara terminal is new and beautiful and extremely easy to use. All the skyteam partners fly out of this terminal (Northwest, KLM, AF, Delta, Continental).
Pittsburgh Intl is another compact beautiful airport and easy to maneuver.

Flew Emirates from India to Europe last month. Then Air Canada from London to Canada.
The main difference was that Emirates had personal entertainment systems in economy. Other than that i really didn't see much of a difference.
Never count on airline food for a good meal...it's just to keep you from getting hungry during the flight.
As long as the plane is relatively new it should be ok.
I remember flying Northwest from Bangalore to Amsterdam. Was in a DC 10 that seemed around 20 years old. They didn't even have enough overhead baggage space. Now that was a lousy flight.

I've gone to india many times via London, and Frankfurt Germany.
I really dislike going through London - the airport is huge, crowded,you have to walk forever to get from one terminal to another.
I really enjoy flying through Frankfurt - the airport is pretty small..not crowded..clean and relaxing. Flying is stressful enough - why allow airports to make it worse !!!
