Hi Arvinder,
These questions have been asked before and also answered before. I know, you are new and do not know how to find them.
Before your wife immigrates into Canada, she has to obtain a temporary work permit and go through all of the formalities associated with the process. The local office, there in India, will check all of the papers thoroughly and scrutinise before they will issue her with landing papers. For this, first you have to apply for a work permit. It is a different application, but very similar. By the looks of things, you all may be permitted to accompany her and land together with her if you make an application together, you may not have to wait for any length of time.
If for any reason, you find that she has to leave first, then, after she lands and settles down in a job, she can sponsor you and the child to come down and stay with her. You can also find a job and work then. The child can attend the junior kindergarden and the local schools.
Your wife can extend the stay with a letter from her employer. You all can apply for permanent immigration to Canada during your stay. All of these are possible. That will be a different process.
There is a web site: <www.cic.gc.ca> i.e. Citizenship and Immigration Canada and in the Proof of Funds section, you will find most or all of the answers to questions you are eager to know. I will provide here with the number of dollars you must have with you in your account there in India for your use if you are landing all by your self. It is for New Immigrants and it changes from time to time. You can follow your wife, after your wife has landed here in Canada. She does not need to show any funds if she has a job offer here in Canada. But it will surely help to have a small cushion till she starts receiving her first cheque.
"Skilled workers and professionals: Who can apply—Proof of funds." The Government of Canada does not provide financial support to new skilled worker immigrants.

You must show that you have enough money to support yourself and your dependants after you arrive in Canada. You cannot borrow this money from another person. You must be able to use this money to support the costs of living for your family.

You will need to provide proof of your funds to the Canadian visa office in your home country when you submit your application for immigration.

The amount of money you need to support your family is determined by the size of your family. These amounts are updated every year.

negotiable instruments in bearer form (for example, bankers’ drafts, cheques, travellers’ cheques or money orders).
