1.Situation here is same as Oman
2. Survival Job also not easy to find for woman,
you need contacts,networking etc..
3. Better bring your daughter and put her in school
4. Leave your son with your husband

As usual , welcome to Canada the land of Opportunities !!!

It can be slightly difficult but I am hopeful that survival jobs can be easily found here .

I will encourage other CD s who have a better idea about this to respond .

I guess you are not asking whether or not you should immigrate to Canada... so would like to give my view on your 4 specific qts.:

1. If not easy its not difficult also to get an admin/secretary position right away .... since quite a few new immigrants experienced some difficulty would recommend you to be prepared for the worst ...
2. Survival jobs are not difficult again.... if you have good english skills, should not be a problem
3 & 4.... not sure what to recommend... very personal choice ..... certainly with 1 yr old you will not be able to concentrate on anything, so better leave him with your mom...

Wish you luck.... keep your spirits high .... its gonna be really tough time, but am sure if you are determined, you will sail through like all of us .......

Regarding your children, you have to consider the fact that you will need childcare for your 4 year old. Currently, JrKG that your daughter will go to is only for 2 hours a day (this will become full time with extended hours from 2010 in Ontario), so it will cost you a decent amount to arrange for her care for the time that you are away at work. In fact, with a survival job, you may not be able to afford licensed childcare which could costs between $600-$800 depending on the facility.

It seems to me that you are splitting the family apart only for a few months.
You will move to Canada with your daughter, your husband will live alone in the ME and your son will live with your mother?
Feb is only about 7 months away why split yur family for this?
can you not liv with your husband until then and then move to canada together ?
as for getting office admin/secretary job in Toronto, it is not that easy unless you know people or someone can arrange such a job for you inside their company.
it will be very hard to get such job by cold calling recruiters.
you could get of course but competition for such jobs is very high i.e. very high number of prospective candidates compared to open positions
often such positions are filled wuth internal references or thru non publicized channels
