One has to meet a minimum income cut-off criteria to be eligible to sponsor parents/grandparents.
Currently, the timeline for in- Canada sponsorship portion is 30 months + another 1-3 years in the country of residence of sponsored person, so you are looking at a timeline of a 3.5 to 5 years.
