My friend,
My sincere advise to you \"Go through it\".
The reason why I am saying this is because I know your frustration. Most of your frustration right now is only what I term as cultural shock. You see a western world for the first time in your life and everything works differently. Right from infrastructure (huge and well spaced which sometimes being misunderstood as things being far away from each other) to life style (which definitely is not indian way! no one cares for you personally like they did in india!). So you feel all alone and you get doubtful if you can come up in this kind of a society.
So don't mix up this feeling with \"wanna-come-up-in-carrier\" feeling. Another thing you might want to know about both USA and Canada is these countries are \"worlds of hires and fires!!!\". I know many who for fired and hired for another job on the same day. So if not this job equip yourself with another job because if your jobless then its your fault as jobs are there plenty! Nextly you also have this Asian world attitudes towards job that I have quoted in this site sometimes back too. Making 40K with a job of your profession makes you more happier than making 60K-80K at a job that you would mostly turn down saying \"clerical\", \"non-main stream\", \"non-technical\", \"non-professional\" (mind you I have never included \"labour\" and lets totally exclude it. But still we have these categories of jobs!!).
If this is the case then you should rethink yourself if you are living life for your relatives and parents just to let them know you are doing a \"OFFICER\" job and not getting paid decently and are still living happily.
Or be a wise man do the wise thing. What makes you think your job in India is going to last for ever?
Aren't you making more than what you made in India by mere call center job right now?

My 2 cents:
These countries have a system my friend. Currently you are at shock at the new way how things work here! Just give it some time You see you are not the first immigrant here. Immigrants before you have created a system to help you new-comers. Just wait until it absorbs you!
Hi,
I left India about 7 years ago and the main reason was money.I got a job in Europe and pay was about 12-13 times more than India. The job had much less pressure.initial 1-2 years was difficult as I was trying to adjust to a new country but after that it was easy.
Now when I visit india(which is every year) i think home is home...but if you have no money you won't be happy anywhere..be it US/Canada/India/Europe.
For most of us professionals social welfare is just not the way..infact it is more frustating. And belive me all this cleanliness, corruptionfree environment, infrastructure, values and manners will suck if you have no money/no job.The dirt, pollution, corruption etc. of India would be fun if you earn good money.
Many young people in India now earn a lot..latest mobiles, cars, houses, holidays are easy to have...in west your brains would be blunted after a while as everything is organised and easy, system controls you very well and you neither have to be creative nor find ways around.
If you get a good job in Canada or anywhere on the planet...which pays a lot..take it,earn well for good few years, invest well, save and then think for comfort, stability, being with parents etc.
Hope it helps...
Pathetic India for you .... Today's TOI ... each day its the same story ...
ROHTAK: What does it take to get justice in this land? Or, to get authorities to act within the law? Ask the two kids, Himanshu (7) and Nikita
(8), who have been on a dharna outside the DC's office for over a month but haven't even got a hearing.
Alka had killed herself on May 6, when the police failed to act against her rapists.
‘‘We’ve lost all hope of justice. First Alka tried to get the accused arrested. Then Sunil was booked for her murder,’’ added Savitri. ‘‘We’re concerned about the children’s future and have no option but to highlight the injustice done.
‘‘They often weep and insist on meeting their father,’’ she said, and alleged that the IG and DC had lied to them by promising relief. Roopchand, a retired teacher, fears more charges will be slapped on them. ‘‘We’re being threatened. A DSP and another official visited us a few days back and told us to move out. Another cop came and threatened us with dire consequences if we didn’t leave. But how can we? All we’re demanding is justice for Alka and Sunil, who have been wrongly implicated.’’
He claimed cops are trying to justify their inaction by arresting Sunil. The suicide note left behind by Alka had names of senior police officers, including IG, SP, DSPs and SHOs, and accused them of pressuring her to withdraw the case.

On Monday, three armed men struck outside a bank in the same market complex where three months ago a security guard was killed barely 40 metres away. The incident was reported at 3.10pm at the IP Estate Extension DDA market opposite the Oriental Extension flats. They targeted Mohammad Arif (25), a customer from Hapur who had come to the bank to encash his cheque. In the process, the robbers also snatched the bike of a DTC driver who tried valiantly to resist them but failed after passersby refused to help him. The Mandawali police has registered a case of robbery.
Arif said that he along with his elder brother Mohammad Riyazuddin and driver Mohammad Akram (30) had come to Allana meat Supplier factory in Sahibabad sector 2 from Hapur on Monday morning. While his brother stayed at the factory to complete a business deal, he arrived at the Mandawali branch of Vijaya Bank to encash a cheque worth Rs 20 lakh issued by Allana.
"As I signalled my driver to bring the Santro car closer, three men surrounded me. One of them put the pistol on my forehead and asked me to hand over the bag. When I resisted, they threatened me with dire consequences. They took the bag and walked to my driver and asked him to come out,'' Arif told Times City. Driver Akram panicked and fled towards Anand Vihar in the car.
Left with no choice, the assailants snatched DTC employee Kuldeep Singh's bike. "They snatched the bike at gunpoint and fled towards Anand Vihar,'' said Singh.
In all the melee, none of the security guards posted outside the ATMs or the police beat post barely 60 metres from the site came forward to help. Arif climbed back to the bank to call the police a simultaneous call was made to PCR by Singh.

Hi Fido,
No doubt it is pathetic. And in fact such incidences happen daily, quite a few of them and in many parts of India...and we all Indians should feel sad and shameful about it.
But is this the reason why should we all move out of india...or why should we choose western countries to live in? What about plenty of good things that exist in india..I can give many examples of good that happens in India as well...and many exmaples of pathetic incidences in Western world.
Anyway hopefully vivek has enough material now to base his judgement on and decide what he wants to do..stay or go back..

I don't think so - in fact the situation becomes more pitiable for the better classes of the society -- with all their money they cannot escape the traffic woes ... no possibility of getting air lifted in the midst of a critical accident .
No possibility of running air conditioners all day long which even a cobbler enjoys abroad .
No safety outside -- police does not help you and there s a criminal lurking just around every corner ... I recall recently a business man from my home town was shot at point blank range and 10 lacs worth of bag looted ....... no 911 s .... no clear air / atmosphere ........... your money can't buy you these things ...
In fact thats the reason why there s a queue of the best part of the society to leave for abroad ........... people who come here and work at below average - average salaries here are the ones who were in the top 15% earners in their home country ...... clearly its not for money ......... as 70 - 80 K is just average salary here and most immigrants don't reach that level also ........ and yet most of them were earning quite well relatively in their home country ...
Its something we call the quality of life for which people come abroad ... clean air , better infrastructure , better society , better support system , better social system etc . And for that they sacrifice their careers / relatives etc .....
Corruption , crime , population , difficult life , atmosphere are the major proponents if people migrating out of India ......... Career options may be better in India ...... how many of us can claim to be in a more advanced position ... career wise as compared to our peers / friends back home .... Mine are Divisional Managers etc .........
