Hi,
Myself and my husband are holding work permits here in canada. We are expecting our first child in June.
If the baby is born here will the baby be Canada Citizen or India Citizen?
If the baby is Canada Citizen, to travel back to India can we get OCI for the baby??
I am little confused here as both of us are holding Indian citizenship and are working here on work permits.
Any information on this is highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Manasa
The baby will be Canadian citizen. You can get OCI for the baby.

you can apply for PIO if you decide to take canadian citizenship for your child .
How can you get Indian citizenship for a child born in Canada when not on a diplomatic status ? Could you provide some url ?

The above link is from a forum where someone had asked a similar question and the response is very good. Please read in its entirety.
The only item that is not correct in the forum response is the fact the child cannot obtain OCI since the parents are Indian citizens. Of course the child can obtain a PIO.
