Hello to all my Desi friends,
I landed as PR in Canada on August 2007 and came back to India on August 2008 spending exactly one year. While in Canada i worked as a Computer Tech in a good company. At that time i had A+ and MCSA certification. My A+ helped me to crack the job in just 15 days. However, MCSA didn't help a bit. Due to some family problem i came back to India and joined a company as Network Administrator with a team of four people.
Meanwhile in India I learned and implemented Windows 2008 AD, file server, Exchange 2007 and and handling 150 users. Configured IBM bladecenter S & E Chessis with IBM DS storage. Learned skill of ASA firewall +VPN on ASDM, cisco switching, Cisco WiFi but having no certification of above technologies. Meantime just done CCNA.
Now i am planning to go back to Canada in Toronto by October 2010 and i am in bit Catch 22 situation. The A+ provide me little kickstart with 12$ an hour but at this junction i need to start with at least 25-30$ an hour. I have been looking to different jobsites and every company requires not system/network administrator but some superhuman who should know every technology on this earth.
Since i have done a mix blend of technologies and having read all your blogs i got really confused. Most of my fellow Desi friends are focused on SAP or Oracle/SQL database. My question is should i go for System Administration with Red Hat Linux and Solaris or stick around with Microsoft Technologies + Network. I have around 9 months to complete all these courses along with certification.
Waiting for all my Desi friends reply.
