Fido.
got a speeding ticket before 4 years (the first and last one in Canada untill now). Didn't know much about what to do at that point & paid the fine right away in the night online. I normally don't like spending my valuable time after all court and legal work which if done can eventually be quite time consuming and expensive..
Didn't get any change in the insurance premium although lot of people said I would. My premium remained the same for the next two years and after that I moved to a house & it infact got lowered !!!
Maybe I had a first ticket pardon or something.... check with you policy

Dude,
I would advise (based on my personal experience) to pay up and move on. YOu have mentioned that there is no demerit points.
Just telling my experience:
I got ticketed in 2007 for going 29 kms over the speed limit. I though with all the hype in getting demerit points that I should fight the ticket with a paralegal.
Paid some $ 250 as fee. I had to go to their office 2 times since they forgot to file something.
In the meantime, I got a court notice asking me to pay the fine. I went to the paralegal with it and they said that something was wrong and that I should not heed the court order and let them handle it. In 2 weeks, I got a letter saying that my license was suspended. So I again went to the paralegal. They told me to pay the fine and also sign some documents for appeal. So paid the fine of $ 110 and the reinstatement of license fee. I also had to go to the MTO to get my license reinstated.
At last the verdict came that I need to pay the fine and that the demerit point will be waived off.
Even after this my insurance did not go up.
So if I were you, I would just pay up and move on.

Totally agreed..little pointy but I guess AshedFC is a saint and you should not have felt a thing when some of the savings was doomed.
Easy to preach than follow eh?

Well I think, the mistake which you did was hiring a paralegal, At this point the outcome does not matter since as everyone has told, this is not a very big offence to be worried about, I want to give it a try, just try to fight my best ..the outcome is not in my hands, but whether to fight or not is within my reach. ..I filed for a trial yesterday, i will request disclosure and fight it in the best way I can, even after that if the result doesnt favour me, I would be still happy since I tried my best.
