Hi

I got speeding ticket as mentioned in my ticket was driving 59KM/H in 40KM/H zone. Police told me that if i will pay this ticket directly i will loose 3 points, however if i will go to court and confess then i will not loose any point.

So i need some adive from CD.

I have decided myself to contest the ticket

1) On my ticket, nothing has been mentioned about de-merit points? So can anybody tell me why?

2) I have checked the website mention in this post FYST and was great but if anybody can guide me a little bit will be appriciated

3) How many years the record will Stay?

4) Does it affect my insurance as this is the first ticket that i have receive?

Actually, i was driving on 50 but cops said so he is right i suppose?. But ba thing was that i missed my kids dctor appointment as we reach late becasue cop spend my 15 minutes.

I dont know what to say. But i feel very bad about getting the speeding ticket

Regard

i'll try to answer as many as i can:

1) On my ticket, nothing has been mentioned about de-merit points? So can anybody tell me why?
--Exceeding the speed limit by 16 to 29 km/h will give you 3 demerit points

2) I have checked the website mention in this post FYST and was great but if anybody can guide me a little bit will be appriciated
--check this linky : http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dandv/driver/demerit.htm

3) How many years the record will Stay?
--if i'm not wrong it's 3 years

4) Does it affect my insurance as this is the first ticket that i have receive?
--most of the insurance companies will let you go for first conviction

i can understand how it feels. i experienced that kinda feeling twice  but i always suggest to fight the traffic/speeding ticket....so Fight..Fight..Fight..Fight...

This site has a lot of information on fighting speeding tickets:

I think you should fight for it. There is a chance that the cop does not show up.

admit to nothing. u did nothing wrong. u were keeping pace with traffic.
any lower speed would be endangering fellow motorists.
the policeman should thank you for helping driving safely not to punishing you with a ticket offensive.

In my estimation you were doing more than 59 in 40, but the officer decided to give you a break.
If the cop that gave you the ticket adviced you to court - then thank him/her for giving you the best advice.
In court you could enter a 'plea bargain' and settle for monetary fine w/o points (before the judge comes you would be given this option); or could refuse it and take it to the judge - and hope that the officer doesn't show up.
Chance are the the judge would give you some `discount`.
