Here's my experience based on my wife's 3 or 4 speeding tickets. I went on her behalf to the court, filed a request to meet with the prosecutor, met with the prosecutor who spoke to me for about 2 minutes, removed all possibilities of points or records, etc and asked me to pay a reduced sum.

I went before the judge, had more fun spelling my name than anything else, paid the reduced amount and went home.

This was few years ago. Never saw insurance rates go up.

Demerit point have no influence on insurance . It only affects ability to carry your license if you accumulate enough points to lose it .
Some people do not see their insurance increase as lot of insurance companies do not check the history on renewal due to lacjk of resources . Its a hit or miss for individual case.

BTW I am glad that due to my poor English I do not understand the relation between conviction for speeding and someone duping . Anyways it is evident that people can go to any extent just to prove their point .

You are probably the only Lucky one..
(keep this secret to you or else Insurance companies know how to fleece anyone)..

I have met so many people in last 8 years who got speeding tickets and their insurance didn't even moved a bit for years....so I'm sure I am not the only lucky one. But it's a whole different story if you are getting 2-3 tickets in a year for all the reckless driving on the roads thinking if you can drive like that in India, then why not here ??? "This is injustice and it can be count in RACISM" Well stop having all the negative thoughts & cursing Canada while you are on roads and everything will be fine :-)

I guess the key part is to pay the fine online and don't make a huss of it !!! If you fight or go to court it makes your driving license no to highlight in their records or something. So when they renew the policy, it gets affected.

Pay the fine right now rather than showing the typical desi mentally of saving the money for a short term time and eventually pay higher later on to the insurance companies for years !!!!

Hi,

I got a letter yesterday for notification of trial. The trial is for 4th feb but the trial notice has 2 mistakes,1. My first name is spelled incorrectly (which is still ok). 2. My license number is also wrong (error in one of the digits). How should I proceed further. I read in some forums, mistakes like this from the prosecution can help you fight this case. Any insights would be helpful. How should I proceed from here. Please help and advise

Fido ,

I read the website, they have said these errors are not fatal..But I really need your guidance on how I should proceed since you have been through this situation before and I have read your posts on how you have got your tickets dismissed. Please help
