hello CD fellas,
i was searching few threads in search here and got few for speeding tickets, but were old post. I need some updated - as of today's date information for speeding ticket and so raising a question again here.
i got speeding ticket for 90 in zone of 60. Officer told me I have 4 options at the back of ticket. By reviewing old post here I learned that I can fight for the ticket. For that what should I do get "option 3 - Trial Option" or get some lawyer and ask him or her to fight for me? I have no experience in this all, got the ticket for the first time.
officer didn't told me anything about demerits of points so what should I consider? Also wanna know what the difference in Set fine and Total Payable as I have different amount for both.
Please suggest, and thank you for co-operation.
There should be written on the ticket about demerit points if not you could call the number given to you on the ticket and ask for it
You can either hire a lawyer and they can fight for it or you can go to court and you can give your explaination, sometimes if it is first offence then if you are guilty then judge will reduce the fine to half but it all depends on judge.
90 in 60 zone is bit high i would say go slow.
you can talk to different traffic agents and get quote for it, when i had ticket i called many agents and got one, cant remember the name now but he reduced it to zero fine and no points

hi silverlining0123
You didn't say which place & province etc..
There is one more thread on speeding ticket
Search with my user id & I think Hiren wrote very clearly about how to fight speeding ticket, what are the options etc.
I got a ticket sometime back for driving at 80 on a 60 zone. I choose option 3 to fight and recived the trial notice. There was an option for attending an early resolution meeting where I can talk to prosecutor to mutually arrive at a lesser charge by negotiating. Went for that meeting and my original charge (95 $ and 3 points) got reduced to 45 $ and no points.
Trial is definitely worth trying. Worst case nothing will change but in all probability something positive will happenFollowing site has great info on how to fight traffic ticket..
