i visited canada twice since becoming permanent residence
there in 2002. i really liked the country as an ideal place to live in .
but unfortunately i not got any job there after trying lot.
here in india i am a ca , saving aroung 30k pm.
now my visa is going to expire soon and i have to take a decesion
whether to move there or forget canada.
here in dehli when i see huge crowd, extreme pollution , corruption,
shortage of basic ameneties like water and electricity, tough
competition for kids, i want to run away to canada.
but when i recollect my earlier experience there in canada looking
for jobs all my courage wane out.
one of my friends there advised me that i should come over there
thinking that i am a student and i should join cga course. completing
cga takes around 2 years.to find a job without doing some professional
course is remote possibility.even entry level jobs are difficult to get.
my age is 40 years and i married man having kids.
to make a decesion to move canada is very tough one , particularly at
this age. but some time i think that though i might be late in going
there but it will be right time for my kids to start life there .
sometime i think it is a matter of 2-3 years for settling there and
then every thing will be okay.
when i see positive views on this site i feel its worth to go canada for me
and when i see negetive thoughts i feel depressed.
i have met 4 indian chartered accountants who came back after trying
there in canada.
offcourse i think india can never become canada, though some people
says india is becoming superpower . i dont think population will ever be
controlled here.
when last time i was coming to india , i was praising canada for
excellent life it is providing , some of my friends wondered and
asked even after going through ordeal of not getting job , u still
like canada.
i donno jobs are difficult to get for new immigrants or overall the
economy there in canada is not generating enough savings.
i am really finding tough to make a right decesion.
Dont even think of going back to Canada
reasons:-
1. You said you save 30K per month in India..which is great
2. You are probably too old
3.India is the way to go for the future

u said i am too old
my age is 40 years.perhaps u mean to say one should go
to canada around 25
yeah that is correct. i applied for canadian visa
when i was 34. i got visa when i became 38 .
i think if i join cga . it will take around 2.5 years
and i will be 43. i donno what will be scope of accountants then.
today i was going through a report in times of india about
G-8 countries . i found that amongst the group canada is the
only country who is having fiscal surplus.even the us is having
fiscal deficit.
i wonder why everybody is so negetive about canada.
when i was there all my friends were saying that i made
a big blunder in coming to canada second time. i came back
but all of them are still staying there. i donno why they cursing
canada all the time but dont coming back home.
there i met a fellow indian ca who said he is not happy in canada
though he is a controller in a company in toronto.he said he was
earning more in gulf. i asked how much he is saving now , he
told me that he is saving around c$2000 pm (wife not working).
he also told me in india he was saving about 5000pm before
going to gulf.
there in canada he is enjoying excellent life style and saving about 70k
in INR and still crying that he would have been better in india.
perhaps it become our habbit to complain all time.
financially i am stable here but i still long for better life in canada.
But easier to move "to" Canada

You know you are a desi when ........ You spew forth the virtues of India, but don't want to live there...............You've never had a tanning salon membership
Mr.ptm,
Well...there are a few reasons for people not moving back..First of all people get stuck here..they dont go back for reasons like what their parents will think..what their neighbours will think or what the guy on the other side of the road think etc. And after some time, you get too much used to canada that you will find it difficult to leave. Especially if you have kids..or worse if they are grown up. You will end up getting pulled back to canda.
I think your objecitve of moving to canada is mainly financially oriented. Forget it man..you are not going to save big bucks here..and the life over here is too tough..you have to fight and fight for each doller you save..do you want to take that risk?
By the way, I am also an Indian CA, along with a few other qualifications (incl a canadian one). I came here in my late twenties.so, I am doing OK here. Even then, I wont mind moving back to India if I can have a saving potential of 30,000 indian rupees (+of course my wife's income), which could make it to at least 50K. I dont save this much here on a monthly basis, I belong to one of the highly paid strata of the canadian society(based on whatever statistics canada is saying).
Good luck in whatever you do..and if you happen to decide to leave for canada, you can inform your company that I might be intersted.

I took the liberty to edit your post. Please do not mind but before moving back to Canada please join some English course in India .

Having visited twice and as a seasoned professional in India you know everything . You have a good job in India but want a better lifestyle for you and your kids. You have several options and if you maintain family ties in Canada( like your wife and kids are here ) you can still maintain PR status while working in India . BUt all these are piece meal solutions. If you want to come and face it, be prepared for anything then come and face it.

Non illigitamus carborundum
Mr.Timon,
thanks for ur views. u said that u r a indian ca. thats good.
what course u have did there in canada?
here in india i am doing my own practice in delhi.actually i applied
for canadian immigration in 1998 .since then i never made
much efforts to expend my practice further. i think i can increase
my savings to 1 lac pm in a period of two years. growth potential
are immense if we put same efforts as we supposed to do in
canada.
but frankly speaking i dont like huge crowd everywhere here.
pollution and corruption prevalent in income tax and sales -tax
departments where i have to regularly go as i am a practising
ca here.
i dont want my kids to go through same ordeal.
but at same time when i recollect my earlier job search in canada
i hesitates.
what course u have did there in canada.
if i joing cga and try to qualify it sincerely , what will be the future
prospects. and what will be the household expenses if one live a
simple life style.
