So his average is not 100 .... thanks .... all the scores you have mentioned above were in India or playing againt Sri Lanka ....... apples to apples as per your own statement they dont count ;)

Let us look at perfomance against australia in australia ... he has an average of 20+ while Sachin has an average of 50+ .... this says it all.

Also Sachin's dismal performance is one of reasons for India's failure in England and Australia. He is past his prime and needs to be dropped without attaching any sentiments. The same fate had happened to greats like Sobers.

Sachin was the second highest scorer for India is both the series ...... yes he should have done more , but then India had sent 11 players to play ... always keep that in mind.

Regarding his performance in 4th innings, it proves that when Sachin fails then India fails .... this goes to show how important is Sachin to Indian team. Don't know what you are trying to prove ....

Earlier you had mentioned about some players playing for team etc etc....

Here are the records for you ...

M Amarnath won 12 lost 23
D Vengsarkar ..... won 18 lost 34
Vishwantah ..... won 20 lost 28

S Tendulkar won 63 lost 54

So i will rather have Sachin play for India, then any of the other "team" players ......

He is a great player ... who will deny that .. He is successful/strong enough in working out things to his way ie he will play and have any number of chances till he make another century so that later he can continue some more years. That is not main concern ..

The main concern is the selection committee that can never make a bold or progressive decisions in India to encourage new talent which is needed for the health of the cricket ...

Agreed, he still deserves a place in the team based on comparative stats with other members, especially in tests.

Different era, different playing culture.

Even so, Sachin did not face the likes of Thomson, Lillee, Garner, Roberts, Holding, Lawson, Marshall(in his prime) etc.

He did not fare well against Ambrose, Bishop, Marshall (in semi-retirement), and that too on drastically slowed down Windies pitches.

For most part he may be a better player than say, Amarnath, Patil, Kapil, but could not match them under pressure situation.

Strange when Sachin plays the fast windies wickets suddenly become slow pitches :)

Facts :

Marshal retired before Sachin played against West Indies ...... he travelled to West Indies in 1997 with Ambrose and Bishop in the team .... as usual he was the second highest run scorer from India .... averaging 57 ..... in my books he fared very well.....

Sachin is great against fast bowlers with pot bellies, close to retirement and dying of cancer.

He's an excellent player. BFD. However, cricket does not begin or end with Tendulkar. Pitches have deteriorated over the last two decades and run making has become easy, thereby benefiting all batsmen of this era. This is a fact and wouldn't change for even a bit no matter how persecuted Tendulkar fans feel.

One has to be blind as a bat and ill-informed to have not known that. But, I don't think that is the case. It seems more of a case of cherry picking from his record and refusing to let go off the emotional investment made on a player like him.

Whatever makes one happy! Everybody has their crack. Tendulkar worship for some. Beer and strippers are mine. :)

Funny how we remember our cricket ..... please tell me ONE test match that Patil played under pressure and India won .... just ONE will do .........
