Plastic bags banned in Toronto starting in 2013

What started off as a debate to get rid of an unpopular five-cent fee for a plastic bag has ended up with the largest outright ban on plastic bags in North America

I agree it is a good thing.

I don't see how plastic shopping bags make shopping "fun". I personally think the 5c fee is a good thing, a number of folks stopped taking bags from the supermarket or bringing their own bags after it was introduced.

The problem was that there was no accountability for the funds after they were collected by the stores. Had they been mandated to be channeled to environmental causes, the program would've been perfect.

Not always. There should be some exceptions.

I will find it inconvenient to carry big bags while going for shopping to Walmart but no problem if going for grocery shopping. This is my personal opinion.

I would say no more fun for unplanned shopping which means I must know if I am going to buy something while stepping out from my home so that I can carry my own bags.

May be they will introduce various kinds of jute bags or even in 2011, Walmart had the durable bags for $ 1 + taxes.
Good luck guys. I seriously feel that plastic bags must be banned all around the world as it make a mess. I know that it will be hard for a few months but then people would adjust.
Peace

Costco doesn't give any plastic bags and i have not seen anyone carrying bags there and still , everyone manages.

So with Walmart and others managing without a plastic bags should not be a issue . Keep couple of cloth bags ( pc , wallmart ) always in your car in case you need them anytime ...
