How much minimal assets of the visitor are considered to be reasonable in regards to ?
a. Liquid Assets viz cash & bank balances .
b. Funds & Fixed Deposits ..
c. Immovable property viz land / house .
I know the more the better but just wondering how much is a reasonable minimum ?

Fido:
Those days where you need hefty sum for getting a student visa from India or Canadian visa for parents is all long over.
Canadian officials act based on their whims and fancies.
What the Canadian official looks is :
1. Is their health OK.
2. Do they have an intent to settle there in Canada (This can be a result of your wife being their only child, no pension, no house - in short no ties).
3. What is their travel history.
4. What is your religion
5. What is your profession / your history (IT job scores high)
So if I was you, I would look at fulfilling the above obligation.
In my case, my mother had a serious medical condition, so since they had an US visa, I got them visa through buffalo. But then I made sure that they left to India / USA after 2 weeks of stay in Canada.
Trust this helps.

Thanks TK for your responses .
In our case , there are no health issues and my wife has a sibling in India .. plus both my in laws are getting pension and have a house in India ... and I am in IT having a comfortable bank balance / assets . ... However their travel history abroad is null as their Passports are still in process ( they did not have any intent to visit till now for the aforesaid reason )
Still as you have said the decision can be based on a whim I wish to provide all the things they look for and plan to submit the following ...
a. Affidavits from me as well as them that they would return after the visit and do not have any intention to over stay . And that they would be coming with Travel Insurance.
b. Statutory declaration from me that I would be providing for accomodation and all expenses related to their visit .
c. Letter of invitation .
d. Letter from MP
e. Their House value as evaluted by an Evaluator ( approx INR 60 lacs)
f. House Tax slips / other utilities which can prove that the house belongs to them .
g. Running Bank Balance of INR 5-6 lacs .
h. FDR s and other investments ~ INR 5-10 lacs .
i. High School certificate ( bearing the father's name & PAN ID of their other daughter in India)
j. Their pension documents.
CD s - please advise if I have missed something or any other document that I can add to the above list .....

Congratulations Fido..... All the best....
I would appreciate a response on this latest update below :
My in laws had applied for a TRV 20 days back and send application to CHC New Delhi .
Yesterday they received back all the papers with the reason that the draft is of Rs 100/- more than the specified amount ..They have requested for a new draft to be sent ... The papers were arranged ,punched and stringed and had a 'seen' stamp on them.
My q - Now when we send the new draft , should we send the Original Application or send a new one since our requested visit start date was 7th of May .... which has elapsed now ...... Wondering if that s at all needed since CHC has 'seen' all the documents and appears that they need the correct draft amount only .
Also does it make sense to now use an Agent and file a Representative form as well .... Till now we had filed it personally ...
Please advise ASAP ... Thanks ...
