Advice please !!

I am owed close to 5k and I have cheques given by that person . It has been close to 3 years and I don't think I will be returned the money.

Someone suggested I go to small claims court and get a Lien or charge against that person so that in future when that person sells the house my money has to be settled.

Does anyone have a similar experience ? Please let me know.

You have waited too long. Nevertheless, try and get hold of a Paralegal and use his help and services in suing the party in a small claims court. Give him all of the details that took place in a chronological order for him to help you.
