Writing this on behalf of a friend who is reeling from the big blow that came through the health of his loved one.

His daughter of 8 years old developed a tumor in the brain that was identified after repeated observation of lacking motor skills and eroding speech skills. Running to the hospital got them CT Scan / MRI scan which showed the growth of the tumor in the brain, the hospital itself booked an appointment with sick kids where in the next 8 hours the kid was operated successfully removing the tumor, the kid is back to normal life in the last couple of days where as the biopsy report to identify the nature of the tissue is pending.

Now the question, he is on work permit (so OHIP covered everything), he was eligible for PR in the experience class category, hence he applied for PR and got the AOR, pending medical and other finalizing formality.

Would this medical condition of the kid affect the PR application ?
The kid has been attending school in Canada for the past two year. More than anything they are concerned about getting similar healthcare if they return back home.

Thanks.

I don't have the knowledge or expertise to respond to the query - but, glad that the child is recovering and doing well.

Your friend is right in being worried about the quality of medical care - once you have been exposed to it here.

That is the beauty of this system. If you are ever exposed to the support (eg. Special needs kids / hospital etc.) - you realize that all the tax you are paying is going to good use (whoever gets the benefit - is immaterial). It justifies the high tax payments we make.

Whenever I hear such stories - I am in a good place and at peace.

All the best and wish the little girl speedy recovery and a negative report.

Most of the medical conditions (That is what the current tumor in this case falls under) has been removed and after a second biopsy to confirm that there are no remnants or traces exist, then the recovery period starts. The monitoring of her health is called for after that. It could be a considerable period or none at all. Not knowing the facts other than what is mentioned here and not being in the medical field, I would refrain from making statements pertaining to this case, from the details and facts presented here.

Knowing a few other cases that were resolved in the applicant's favour, I will place my hopes in this case also in a favourable category and if he applies for a PR status I am sure he has a fair to a good chance of succeeding in its outcome. Anticipate a few delays due to the time taken with the medicals of the family.

I would urge the Parents to take extreme care and protection of the child, especially protecting the area operated upon until she is totally healed and cleared by the people in the field. A second MRI/CT Scan may be the way to go. A waiting period is of the order. So wait for the papers that will arrive and follow their request.

Good Luck.

FH.
