Dear Friends,

Today i got a ticket of CAD 295 for riving at 90 KM/HR in a 50 KM/HR region. Is there any way i can get a discount on this price and how. How much can be a max discount in such a case ! Can i also ask to waive of this fine as i dont have any job right now and already living on social assistance / EI. Thanks

Sir,
No. It canot be waived off. 39 kms above the speed limit is a lesser charge than 40 kms over the speed limit. This is a very serious ticket and can shoot up your insurance at the next renewal to insane levels.

FIDO and HIREN have a history and knowledge of fighting the tickets and you should follow their advise on the same.

No. You canot say that you are on Social Assistance as if you are on social assistance, you canot have assets over $ 3000. They may try to recover your Social assistance, should some one see that your car is over $ 3000. So keep quiet on that matter. Most of the people on Social assistance own clunkers, not worth more than $ 1000.

Thanks TK, so would it be ok to appear before court in person or you would recommend engaging a ticket fighter expert. Can you also please suggest a reasonable excuse that can be presented before judge while fighting your case for a reconsideration of fine levied. Thanks

Why would someone be driving 90 kmph on a street with posted speed limit of 50 kmph? Pathetic !! I am glad that cops are nabbing these offenders.

One of the reasons Canada is rated high for living is that we Canadians are honest. We believe in speaking truth. So Hasni you want to tell a lie just to get away from paying a traffic ticket. Man own to your offence. You have committed a crime. You should tanks your starts you did not hit some one by your reckless behavior. I agree with northyork_desi SHAME ON YOU not so much for committing traffic crime but trying to getting away by wrongful means viz. telling a lie. OWN to your actions. What would you tell your kids. Thanks!!

Were you really doing the 90 Km/hr ? Lot of times the cops make mistakes and the radar gun is not accurate. So fight the ticket no matter what. The cop might not show up at the trial or the prosecutor might reduce the speed limit and fine and demerit points.

If you are really guilty, whatever deal they offer you take it. If insurance increases your rate next year, they might or might not for the first offence, stop driving as you can't afford it on Social assistance. Ask them for free bus tickets, they will give them to you.

I am fully agree with Northyork_desi and chemical engineer.
you need to slow down ...probably you got used for speed in Saudi ... I don't know.
Now a days, it is less likely that cop won't showup in the court.
The right thing to do is .... accept guilt ( unless you really belive that you are going at 50 and cop gave ticket for 90) , request the judge for lesser punishment by becoming best Dramebaaz aritist. Most of the times, judges consider.
