Hi Guys,
Finally I bought Canon SD400 (5 MP) ....ultra slim look and with gr8 features.
There is an interesting story though behind my shopping.
Actual price was $549.99 both in Staples and Futureshop in May 18.....but Futureshop was giving $50 discount on anything over $500 for that partcicular day only and immidiately I ordered via online so my price was $499.99(Plus Tax).
On May 20 Futureshop reduced the price for SD400 model to $499.99 until May 26,2005.
On May 21 (today) Staples reduced the price from $549.99 to $529.99 ..I stopped by in Staples today morning ,showed Futureship price and after Staples 150% Price match I bought the same at $485 (still $15 cheaper than Futureshop)
I will return Futureshop one which I'll receive sometime next week .. I called up futureshop guy before I bought from Staples and intimated them about Staples 150% price match and that I am getting at a lesser price but they expressed that they can match upto 110% only and adviced me to return once I receive the shipment from Futureshop.
Now if I could check Staples price on May 20 I could get even better price $475 because Staples price was $549.99 that day and Futureshop $499.99.
Anyone planning to buy Canon camera in this range can utilise this price match.
Afterall $485 comparing $549.99 for this kind of Canon latest Model(launched in Feb,2005) is not bad at all

btw Another latest Canon Model A520(4MP and 4X optical zoom,Launched only in Feb,2005) Staples reduced the price by $30 today and now priced at $349.99 which is indeed a good deal in this price range . it's not in ultra slim category though.

Do digital cameras manipulate images?
In other words they give you better than you actually see it.

This is much better than what I saw. the colors are too good to be true.

Dude, why dont u try the Panasonic Lumix FZ 7. That has capability to store images in RAW/TIFF format as well as compressed JPEG... At 6 Mega Pixels, with a 12x Optical Zoom + Image stabilization .. you cant beat the price.

The price of that camera has dropped considerably

I just got CANON SD600 for $210 from newegg.com Reviews are pretty good on this one.

They throw in a 2 GD micro SD with it for free. Total was $215 with shipping.

I am retiring my canon Powershot A300 (served well since 2003)

Thanx for ur guidance. Can u tell me more cameras (like Olympus, Panasonic, Cannon etc. ) with RAW format facility.

I dont know how to find out the raw support.
