I am looking to upgrade the RAM on my PC. It is a HP and needs the following

Speed supported PC3200 MB/sec
Type 240 pin, DDR2 SDRAM
DIMM slots Four
Open DIMM slots Two

I checked a few sites and the speed available is 4200 or 5200. Would this work on my PC ?

The existing memory is 2 x 256 (512). Do I have to replace that or can I just add 1 GB or 2 GB in the additional slots? The max I can install is 4 GB (though I do not think I need 4 GB).

Can anyone suggest places to get a good deal.

Thanks.

Hi Iceberg,

I recently upgraded memory in my PC and ThinkPad.

Download and run the software from this website:
http://www.4allmemory.com/
to determine the slots available and compatible memories you system will take.

I purchased the memory from Infonec.ca who also have three store locations, one each in Toronto, Mississauga and Markham. I found their prices to be lowest amongs all: tigerdirect, factorydirect,CanadaComputers, Staples, FutureShop and BestBuy.
