We got $ 150 ticket and 3 demerit points for "Passing off Roadway" i.e. we crossed the solid line while merging. I understand the three choices we have are
1) Plead guilty and pay the fine.
2) Plead guilty with an explanation i.e. attend the court and explain.
3) Trial i.e. file a suit.

Does anybody have experience with the last two option especially the second option i.e. plead guilty with an explanation. What one needs to do.

Thnx in advance.

Lana,
While you were not checking CD forum, the same issue came up for discussion and this is the link : http://www.canadiandesi.ca/read.php?TID=18284&page=2
Looks into Hiren's answer and he has pretty much summed it up.
There are also a few more very informative threads about how to throw out traffic tickets which you can find by using the work "Traffic Ticket" in the search option of CD.
Please try to do it on your own as I have had very horrible experiences with traffic ticket specialists.
All the best and you be able to throw this ticket away. It is one the rights that you have as a Citizen / PR of this country.

Lana,

Sorry to hear about that. Can you please give some details how you were caught? The cop was driving next to your car or it was traffic camera? I am a new driver and any details will help.

Thanks,

My husband was driving the car and he said the police was hiding behind a tow-truck. The traffic was crawling. It's not that he put anybody in danger. But I guess these days cops are out to get the money they can.

Sure, if you don't wanna pay the land transfer tax and the car registration tax, then this is what they will do.
They're gonna getcha - one way or another :o)
