Thanks for your suggestions. I was given options of 1200 cad and above by my relocation adviser. I had to really force to get something around 900. There are places where I can get for 700 but commute will be more than an hour and half. Right now my commute is around 50 minutes.
I spend one biweekly salary on expenses and the other is savings
Montreal EEE,
I think you are missing something.
Montral is really a small place and you can get apartments for $ 700 just near your office.
Looks like your company is a very big company and your relocation advisor is a high fi guy. Since you are / were new, you did not note the options.
Just search on apartments and have a map to compare the distance from your office. Montral is really a very cheap town as it does not have that much jobs like Toronto. It is very good for refugees who come from war torn countries as the only jobs available are labour. Just imagine. There are many PR's in Canada with your qualification and yet your employer had to get you from India. That is the problem in Canada.

Is your office in Dowtown? would you mind giving the location , I can recommend some places , if you are in downtown I would also recommend Lasalle - Green line metro
just get appartment close to Green or Orange line metros - get a walking distance to metro , you will be very happy with metro service and it will be cheaper but very convenient
particularly Lasalle has lower rental than montreal
again , give me idea of location and i can recommend some places

Good rental site: http://www.louer.com/
I still do not understand Why you need Plamondon Metro ????
It looks like you are close to either DDO or Chomedey - Give me more closer picture.
But forsure Orange line is your best bet for your work.
Namur: if you like desi people around - cheap many apartment on street : Mountain sight Ave)
Cote-vertu : this metro is connected with many bus root - also very reasonable and safe ( not to many apartment close by - there are four or five apartment building , try close by du-college metro as well
Also you can try little further this corner Cote-Vertu & Alexis-nihon - many apartment there and bus root connected to few metros
Again, if you provide me more clear picture around your work area i can guide you further.... you can also try something in Chomedey/ Laval near Goun or Cure labelle metro ( laval is generally cheaper to rent )

Thanks for your suggestions. Initially I was put up in a temporary accommodation in bois franc. It was just a 15 minute ride to office by bus.
But the place was expensive and no shops nearby. I chose plamondon because of the Indian restaurants nearby. I have to take a 5 minute bus ride from plamondon to cote des neiges where I live.
936 rental is inclusive of heating and hot water. Basement car parking of 70 cad is also included. I think even if I think of moving when my lease expires, I would prefer near plamondon or Namur just for desi shopping and restaurants.
