hi everyone,
I been away from desi site for a while. Now i am back.. Here is what happend to us,
I extended my parents visa and it was issued. Now they are going back to india after 1 year of complete stay. They will be back after 6 months. And hope next time they will try to stay here as long as possible and go back to India after that and wait until Immigration is done. I hate this stupid process, considering their age and type of immigration, it would be better if Immigration is issued soon. In 3 years who knows where we will be!!!!
Again my parents have to apply for visa to come back here.
bye

FYI
I applied for my parents immigration in June, 2003. Got Acknowledgement of receipt in February, 2004!!! From this, it looks like its going to take forever for them to get the actual PR. I wonder if somewhere along the line, they start cleaning up house and hasten this process a bit, I'm really keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best.
The good part was that my Dad had to apply for his visitor visa renewal (his was expiring in Nov 2003) and they did give him another one for 10 years. But he's been to Canada twice, I don't know how they handle cases where the applicant hasn't been to Canada yet.

Are you there?
My Parents are applying under the "Independent Catagory" soon. However, my sister, who will be a dependent on their application, is planning to come to Canada this year to study. Will the PR application be a hinderance for her getting a Student Visa? Will it be better to get the Student Visa first and THEN apply for Immigration? Please advise.
Thanks
DT

A Proud Indian Canadian
I have applied for my mother immgrin Jan 2003, and the acknowledgement was received in Feb 2003- Stating that the whole process should be complete in one year.
Thereafter till date there is no information except "FILE IN PROCESS"
It is strange that in Jan 2003, the time stated by CHC is one year and was changed to three years. I heard, the reason was resources were redirected to clear pending independent category application. That is because these people will bring in money . They will work and earn and pay taxes to fund for Canadian Seniors of which we are only a small percentage. Who is getting benefitted? Resources are mainly used for funding Scandals like sponsorship programs.
Is there any way to expediate the process for sole surviving member. I believe there was one and I heard it is discontinued now.
Better to apply for student visa and the PR.

Need some help on this if anyone has an idea.
I've applied for my parents under family class last year and recently got the Acknowledgement of Receipt letter and Application forms for them to fill out. For the PCCs, the printed guide states that they must obtain PCCs for EACH country they've lived in for over 6 months since the age of 18. However on the form that allows you to request the PCC, it says they do this only for countries they've lived in the past 10 years.
My questions are
1) Should they get the PCCs from countries they've lived in for more than 6 mos. about 15 years ago?
2) Do my Mom and Dad both need to get this or is this just for the principal applicant?
3) Since this will take a bit of time and is cumbersome, can they fill out the forms and send it along with the Indian PCC for now with a note that they've requested the internantional one and will send it as soon as they receive it? Or will New Delhi send back their forms if all the PCCs are not included (the application does say everythign must be sent otherwise papers will be sent back)
Thanks in advance.
