Man the standards of the site seem to be on a downward spiral.
This thread seems to be so peppered with generalizations and skin-colored centric views its just amazing. Its EXACTLY the kind of thing we do not want to encourage in our kids or Newcomers. Instead of guiding people away from those attitudes this site seems to have become a storefront for advertising that attitude. Desis this/that, Philipinos this/that, tamils this/that, whites this/that. Pretty soon everyone who tackles life by focussing on differences and negatives will congregate here and that will become the Canadiandesi of tomorrow.
Its a horrible baggage to carry around even if one is not a newcomer. Get beyond these segregations in your own head and you will be amazed at how everyone else will seem to follow. Like someone said in another post...and I paraphrase ' If you dont label yourself no one else will'. As an extention...dont label others and no one will label you. Pretty soon I promise you that you will 'fit' right in and even subconciously be unaware of differences/similarities between you and 'them'(put your favourite group here). You are all individuals first. If an individual fails you...focus on the individual *** if you have to***. Try to forget if it was a desi, white or black person who did that. Follow same attitude if someone has done good to you.
Please do not do a disservice to new immigrants, this site and people in general by engaging openly in these crass generalizations.

Fido.
J3D,
whether you accept it or not, there are some qualities of certain races/ Individuals which are general. There will be many exceptions and i accept it.
I was just highlighting it so that the new comer is aware of those and tries to adjust himself accordingly.
As such FIDO was also meaning the same thing in his post which i agree 100%.
Other than that, I donot have hatred for anyone nor am i kindling hate crime. I am encouraging new comers/ others to walk around those known traits that could be exhiited by these Individuals.
For example :
My boss has insulted me so many time, but then i just try to ignore his bad remarks and for each insult he makes of me , feel that i have learnt another important point in life which has to be avoided in the future.
Hope this solves the issue.

Precisely so ,
In order to find a solution its very impoertant to locate the problem and the root cause . Even I have experienced the racial behaviouralso as a new comer and I would wish a new comer to be wary of such things , and then try to rise above them .
if you wish to dis regard a problem that doesnt eliminate it .Its better to acknowledge the problem and then solve it .

TK here is my take on this,
If you advertise to the newcomer that there are racial differences here (based on your observations, however right they may be) you are inciting prejudice. That, I won’t call a service to the newcomer. I , and for that matter every newcomer to this country, would like to have personal observations and experience to guide my understanding of the society. Every society has its problems, you see that in India too (read one of your old posts). Could it be not true that the way the lady reacted/behaved in the shop was because of the prejudiced feedback she got when she arrived here first and she can’t get out of it? I agree IT is here, but lets have our own take on it rather then generalizing the events through racial prism and most of your postings have just that.
Mind you, this is not criticism, some may like it that you are straightforward, and may share your views. But these are my two cents.
Deleted to respect Ranin's views.

Sidenote : And Ranin, My post had nothing to do with Racial differences. If that was your understanding , please note that you are mistaken. I have been warned by the moderators not to start a racial thread/ argument.
My post explained the lethargy shown by the desi to a fellow desi customer (like the desi employee saying/ thinking : Hey ! even i am ot rich enough to buy a perfume here / Even i canot afford expensive things like this / this is people from my country just like many others who just come, see things, ask questions etc.. and leave and so let me not waste time on them" attidude)rather than any racial hint. All my discussions are directed to the traits of a particular group of people.
