During our visit to Toronto this long weekend, we would be travelling in subway most of the day. Can you suggest a good and reasonable parking spot close to subway station (either Kipling or any station till Dufferin) where we can park for whole day?

Kipling subway station parking nothside (just beside the Green Building of Dundas Street or north to the passenger pickup of subway) is free for the commuter of subway during weekends and holidays. Moreover it is free Monday to Friday after 3 PM to 11 pm for the commuter of Subway. I always use this parking lot when I travel to Toronto downtown during weekends.

Thanks Chekram.

Do we need to have a subway pass to avail the parking facility at the subway station, or having just subway stubs will suffice?

No absolutely not. If you park between above mentioned timings there is no need to have a metropass only you have to buy a ticket or day pass. I didnt find anybody asking for pass or ticket during that time. The entrance is from I forgot the name of the street but the it is at the 1st traffic signal towards west from Auckland Street. Take right on that street if you are coming from mississauga and immediately after two blocks on your left you find entrance of that parking lot. I think below mentioned link would help you

I thought that on a weekend and holidays, the parking lots are open and you can just drive in, whether or not you are travelling by subway after parking. Who do you prove to that you are commuting by subway?

Exactly I dont know. However, in the website they used the terminology like metropass customers and other customers. I think this implied customers of TTC. 5.00 AM to 3.00 PM for Metropass customers and rest of the time and weekends and holidays for other customers. I have used this facility several times and I didnt find anybody asking for pass or tickets. Yes I have one weird experience once I asked taxidrivers and they told me that this facility is for only metropass holders. But later on I confirmed with TTC authority over telephone and I have been told that if I travel by TTC (irrespective of Metropass holders) I can use this facility during weekends and after 3PM till midnight during weekdays.
