Yes, past mistake has to be corrected and I am for it. But the way it shoudl be corrected is not by funding other faith based schools but to slowly get rid of funding for the catholics schools and make it all public. But that is complicated and will need a stong leader to acomplish it.

You are absolutely correct. Funding faith based school is the stupidest idea I have heard. Thank god JT softened his stand on it. Religion shoudl be taught at home and home only. IMHO religion & education should not mix. But to my surprise 2 of my indian friends are all for funding faith based school and thier argument is that if catholic schools are funded then why not other faith based schools and my argument was if a mistake has been made in the past the repeating the same mistake again does not correct the past mistake.

Why shouldn't the past mistake be corrected? Why shouldn't be there one school system called Public School System?

Has anyone courage to do that? No one .. Not even Tory as he will loose more votes than gaining few.

Privatize entire education system. If 'right to' education is made mandatory, then issue school vouchers. Parents can use these vouchers to send their wards to schools of their choice, be it a Convent/Madrassa/Kibbutz/schools-for-same-sex parents/communists etc. Just develop common curricula. But not exclusive schools just for the Catholics.

I have had enough of being lectured about the ills of religion in education. First lets talk about seperating State from education, then talk about seperating religion and education. None of the candidates have the fortitude to take on the Education bureaucracy.

Do all the students coming out of Catholic schools become religious leaders ? This is a misconception that most people seem to have about religious based schools.
They will have normal curriculam within an enviroment of your religious beliefs. Apart from whatever one needs to study a student will get exposure to values and beliefs on ones religion. On that count i have nothing against such schools.

JT shot himself in the foot with the faith based schools issue.

At the begining it was appearing that the "broken promises" platform of JT stood them a good chance.

But Liberals made maximum capital out of the faith schools issue and crushed the PCs.

I think the election was decided within the first 5 mins i.e. around 9:05 pm.
