i went to apply oci today for me and wife and pio for kids ,went there morn around 7.30 am ,was 5th inthe line , was called in the office at 9 am till then there were a lot of people everyone was accepted ,parking was available at
77 huntley street which connects to the bldg,15$ for all day and 3.75 $ hr ,


for pio we had to take the foll doc

cdn passport ,indian passport,statement of live birth certificate,one photo pasted on the form and 3 more,photocopies of the passport,parents passport ,landing doc,parents citizenship certificate and one prepaid envelope
with a draft of 480$ cdn currency for two applications.(i.E one application 240$)

for oci:

pls make TWO sets as people were getting just one ,two sets doesnt mean A AND B ,two means two of A AND TWO OF B along with originals and photocopies of your passports Indian (front page,second page, last page the page where u have the immigration stamp) and and Canadian,landing document,five photos the background should not be white ,light blue or gray is acceptable ,i did my five photos at pacific mall markham for 40$,with a light blue background,citizenship certificate,a draft payable to

"consulate general of india,toronto"
amt is 275$ per application ,for a family of two or four u can pay in a single draft.

we were done by 10 am for submitting the documents for pio and oci ,pio immediately we were issued receipt

for oci we had to wait till everyone was done and then they were issuing receipts , as i had a baby i requested to give early but then they said if you are in a hurry u can give us a stamp and we will give you a envelope and mail the receipt to you , i refused to do so and was given the receipt upon second request to hurry as my baby was getting fussy,

overall the wait was for 4 hours

all family members are not required to be present ,but check all the forms thoroughly that you have not missed any signature ,and also to collect any member can do so provided you have the receipt and the cdn passport.

Hi Guys,
My OCI will be available in CGI Toronto next week. Do I need to go immediately to have that stamped on my passport? I am planning on taking the day off next month. Will delay in getting to the consulate cause any trouble?

can somebody pls confirm if CGI will return originals back same day if you apply in person??

also, there is applicant and spouse signature on part B. If only primary applicant is applying and spouse is not applying, does spouse still need to sign??

Yes, CGI will return original there and then after verifying in front of you.

Spouse signature needed even if primary applicant is applying. infact spouse copy of record of landing also needed and carry original of the same also along with other originals.

After applying it takes about 5-6 weeks in getting OCI.
