I am a Gents and not a Ladies.

I just want to sum up and clarify to the best of my knowledge some of the myths about Indian Dual Citizenhip.

-- There is no such thing as Indian Dual Citizenship , even today

-- The OCI is a 20 year multiple entry Visa with almost the same priviliges as a PIO Card but stamped in the foreign passport

-- Since the Canadian passport changes every 5 years , a new OCI stamping has to be done on the new passport.

-- Surrendering Indian passport does not mean , returning it but declaring to Indian Consulate that you hve obtained foreign citizenship.

-- It is advisable to inform them sooner than later , just to avoid any questions

-- The Indian consulate will stamp it as cancelled and return the cancelled indian pasport to you

-- One cannot use Indian Passport to go to India and Canadian passport to travel back to Canada , because India does NOT allow dual nationality

-- For an OCI Visa holder to become Indian national again, there is a residency condition to be fulfilled and the foreign nationality has to be surrendered .

Can someone explain the procedure for OCI to become Indian national again.

ALso educational institutions in India have higher tution fees for NRIs than Indian citizens. Will that difference in tution fees still remain even after so call dual citizenship.
